If that were how it unfolded, I'd probably masturbate to the news.

Ya'll would still have to vacate the season if the NCAA determined that Cecil was seeking improper benefits and Cam would be ineligible.

That would be the best possible situation for ya'll at this point, imo.

Honestly that's kinda how I hope it happens.

Has been that way for a long time. Allowing Pat Dye back into the program is a sure sign of corruption on the NCAA level. Which at this time is really the least of Auburn's concern.

This entire situation is going to be very bad for other members of the SEC as well.

biggest thing I saw Grassyl was: The Department of Justice in July began notifying various politicians, reporters, lobbyists and others that their conversations may have been picked up during wire taps. The phone taps occurred during a 38-day period this spring when the Alabama Legislature was considering a gambling bill.

That's not over by a long shot. I know a state rep who got all his affairs in order and warned his family to not be surprised if they saw him in a police car on the local news. Somehow he managed to escape Round 1. I sincerely believe those in the state congress that didn't take any bribes are in the minority.

Lordy at the stories those people who used to work at Colonial tell about Bobby.

Good time for a little Elvis...
Go tell that midnight rider.
Go tell that long-tongued liar.
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back-biter.
Tell God Almighty's gonna cut 'em down.

Which makes me worry that Saban could leave in disgust at the current state of affairs in the SEC...providing a convenient out for him from a PR standpoint, if he wanted to try the NFL again.

I still say vacated season at minimum, but my source portrayed Cecil as extremely manipulative and untrustworthy throughout the recruiting process at State and it would not surprise me if a lot of what Cecil has been caught saying in the recorded conversations are not what actually happened.

MS St coaches leaked the info I am telling you intentionally to several sources and that is why it would shock me if Auburn was actually willing to pay 200k to a player already under a ton of suspicion by rival schools. It would be suicide to do so. They may still get in trouble for recruiting a player they knew was being shopped (and was therefore ineligible) though. Trust me, if I knew Cam was shopped before he committed to Auburn, then Auburn knew as well, even if they did not pay him.

Bowden refused to be interviewed for this story, citing a confidentiality agreement he signed as part of a contract settlement that forbids him from making "negative or derogatory" comments "toward Auburn, the Auburn athletic department or its employees, or the Auburn Board of Trustees, or each other."

Bowden did get a few digs in though. I remember a Finebaum show from long ago where Tater Tot told about when he took over at the Barn. He said several players came up to him and asked which coach was going to be handing out the money now.

The FBI portion of this will happen very quickly.
it depends on the scope of the investigation and how quickly they're able to turn up whatever they need to proceed. that's why i said it could go on for a while. it could very well wrap up next week too. just depends on the circumstances.

media types are reminding everyone that the ncaa moves like molasses but, this case seems to be quite different than other football cases like reggie bush. i personally think that three things are speeding this up

1. fbi could be doing a lot of legwork for the ncaa
2. it appears that the case of cam's eligibility is not complex and the necessary puzzle pieces for the ncaa to make a determination are easily obtained
3. this case affects the entire bowl landscape and there are still three weeks left in the season. i think if it were after the season, the ncaa wouldn't be pressured to move fast.

Monticello, you just doused alot of peoples hopes with that very plausible explanation. Sounds like it could ring of the truth.

As usual with things like this, everyone has a source. Hate aside, can't beleive some of the extreme speculation ppl are running with in this thread. That 'gambling' websit. Was swearing up amd down Cam wouldn't play vs uga accd to their source.

I wish only the absolute worst on Auburn, but I think we are talking somewhere more along the lines of severe but not unbearable sanctions by the NCAA in addition to the vacated wins.

There is a big difference between playing an ineligible player and knowingly playing an ineligible player. Auburn could (and I think will be) sanctioned very heavily if they knew he was being shopped, even if they did not offer or pay a cent. If they did not know he was shopped (very doubtful considering how many knew about this situation) we are talking just the vacated wins.

Just got some interesting scoop from an MSU buddy with connections. He added a new detail I have yet to hear. He said that the deal with Cecil and Auburn reps went down in Casino chips. He had no knowledge of the Tuskegee article. Interesting...

Even if you or your friend is completely making that up, that is a pretty creative way of hiding a money trail.
