The LSU hire was no doubt a pure desperation hire

I mean look at the money being spent. That is a lot. Ignoring the money side, it's still a good hire.

It's the same amount of money Tucker is getting paid.

9.5 mil is a lot? Sure it's 7 mill more than he was making, but MSU paid Tucker the same amount. And less than the 15 mill USC paid Riley.

Really. So you think that Lincoln Riley (who BTW has the same agent as Brian Kelly) flatly told LSU no after they offered him, leaving LSU no other choice but to scramble to hire Kelly at the last minute, huh?

“I was not surprised, there had been enough in the weeks leading up that gave me a pretty strong sense that there might be other things that were attracting Brian and then of course social media got very active during the day yesterday.”

Does this really sound like a man who just got blind-sided to you?

Riley going to USC certainly upped the offer going back to Kelly. I don't have a problem with the OP. It's a good hire, and LA is flush right now so frick it.

If its all about the money, why didn't he give ND a chance to counter?

ND has a history of not overpaying for coaches. They consider it an honor to coach ND. Brian Kelly knows that.

You are judging the hire on what he is being paid?

The next time LSU is shopping for an electrical service provider, they should definitely consult with you first.

9.5 million is not overpaying for Kelly. An unproven Tucker just got 9.5 million, and Riley that struggles in big games got 15.

I wonder if Lincoln just strung along LSU in order to leverage more money out of USC.?

I don’t know if there is anything to this , but big if true.....
