This guy stammers through probably one of the least convincing accounts I’ve ever seen. Pretty much pushed me farther away from the Russian side of things.

Between this and the “the Pope enriched himself like a Congressman” thread… y’all have lost it. Lots of reaches, to say the least.

Absolutely
Reminds me of the WWI Christmas Truce of 1914. Putin is way too tied to history. This is not a benevolent move.
I’ve seen this reported on various networks as a feel good story. This is lawless behavior. Nothing about this story should give you warm and fuzzies. Those horses might as well be Dodge Chargers as far as I’m concerned.

I’ve posted this a few times, but the following article best explains what OP is getting at…

Forbes article
Let’s be honest. Even if every Chinese job were relocated to the US, unions would run them out again. The only way we get manufacturing back will be when automation is the standard. We’re 10-15 years away from that. Companies are not interested in your compensation. They are only in that they will seek a lower level elsewhere. They will always seek the most profit. UAW style demands make the US laughable to prospective investors.

But let’s fast forward 20 years. What will our population be doing? Manufacturing stuff? Of course not. We’ll be arranging the financing, doing the engineering, developing the products to be manufactured. A service economy. Just like we are today.

Hands-on manufacturing is almost over. Are we chasing our own tail?
Funny how those on the left critique a punch they never would have thrown.
We’re on the cusp of fully automated manufacturing for pretty much everything. Might as well have those next generation factories here.

IMO, this is less about bringing back the American “worker”, and more about bringing in the future of American “manufacturing”.

Automation levels the playing field in terms of worker pay, while assuring that we’re manufacturing critical products here in the US.
Or go to a kinetic war. If we go to, say, 100% - they would do it.

"They don't take our car" is such a stupid talking point.

And if you actually travel to Europe, there are Fords everywhere. WTF is actually going on here?
After some reflection, if it makes you feel any better, the rest of the world will hurt ten fold.

Going to lose 10K+ off the DOW. They should have communicated this to the American people. I’m just glad I’m young enough to overcome it. Current retirees are going to greatly suffer.
New Orleans needs another bridge also. If y’all are dissatisfied with this one, we’ll take the money and add one. Don’t care what path it takes. Just need to take pressure off the CCC.

They make our 60” flat screens, making 15 cents per hour and sell them to us for $250 bucks. Who is bending who over??

stop hemorrhaging money to every country in the world?

What do you mean by this? We’re the great consumers of the world. Do you expect us not to have trade deficits? This tariff policy is stupid. Trump will back off very soon and you’ll be singing a different tune.
