The big thing is hes doing it at Missouri , which doesnt exactly produce mass in state talent.
Doesn’t mean what it used to. In state High school recruiting has become a lot less relevant. Kids are following the money whether it’s in state are not, plus the portal has reduced the importance of high school recruiting in general. The success of Indiana is a prime example.

Brady shouldn't be on the list because his heart is in the NFL.
This is all you need to know. Brady has given no indication he wants to coach college again.

I want Kelvin Sheppard
If we go the coordinator route we really need to consider someone with more than a half year experience doing it. Need to take off the purple and gold glasses, would/is Shepherd being considered by any other major program.

Same as every other school. Major boosters supply all the NIL money and call all the shots, especially when it comes to football. This is what college football has evolved into.

This is the reality of college football. Boosters totally call the shots.

How much is Mcmahon buyout?
Good question? Woodward fired Kelly mid season with a 5-3 record and a 54 million dollar buyout. MaMahon has performing worse than Kelly since day 1. You would think MaMahon has a 100 million buyout the way Woodward had been acting.

We aren't likely going to be much better next year either. Yeah, I know you can turn it around more quickly these days with the portal, but we lose a ton this year.
You never know Kelly’s first year was his best. The portal has changed everything.

Basketball will be no better, so enjoy some football while you can. At least there's some room for optimism for the future with football now.
speaking of basketball you can blame Woodward for the whole Wade firing and McMahon hiring debacle and leaving LSU with the McMahon stink bomb going forward.
Looks like Woodward didn’t save football after all
Posted by da prophet on 11/3/25 at 10:02 am
By firing Wade to appease the NCAA, and hiring McMahon. Karma’s a bitch.
Boosters controlling colllege football
Posted by da prophet on 11/3/25 at 9:59 am
Boosters have always been a large part, but with NIL and the portal boosters have basically neutered the Athletic Director’s power. I’m cutting off the money if coach _ isn’t fired tomorrow. That’s why you’re seeing all the in season firings.

I don’t have a problem with Woodard being so invested in football operations
Sounds like Woodward realized he made a retirement (bad) hire and he was forced to be heavily involved.

He wasn’t trusted to. An AD that can’t hire a HC can’t be AD.
Exactly. Hiring a football coach is an AD’s most important task and Woodward failed at his last 2 hires and cost a fortune in buyout money. Woodward had to go, and it was very unlikely the new president would have retained him.

Quit being a drama queen. Coaches don’t care if you show them the money.

Everyone thought Kelly was a good hire at the time. Nobody anticipated Kelly not giving a shite anymore. Woodward hired Jay Johnson and Kim Mulkey as well. Stop being a bootlicker for Governor Boucher
He also fired Wade and hired MacMahon. Stop cherry picking. Mulkey was coming home regardless of who was AD. Jay Johnson was his only good hire.

I’m curious why Woodward hasn’t fired McMahon.
Landry is right
Posted by da prophet on 10/30/25 at 3:15 pm
Woodward destroyed LSU basketball firing Wade and hiring McMahon, now he has football is in his sights. Who in their right mind would let Woodward make this hire.

Republican or democrat, I don’t see how anyone could be down with a governor inserting himself so publicly in a college football head coach search.
Governor’s have always had input on LSU football hires. You just didn’t realize it. You don’t think the CEO of a company is gonna let a lowly manager make a decision that affects the whole company (state of LA) that much make a decision without input. LSU head coach hires have always been very political.

College football is a mess. Worse than the NFL. Unlimited free agency, no contracts, no consequences. Billionaires throwing money around. To be truthful, traditional coaches don’t know how to handle it. It’s very difficult. Saban saw what was coming.

Brian Kelly didn't work out but that was a massive hire at the time. We got a perennial top 10 HC who had played in a Natty from one of the biggest brands in college football. It obviously didn't turn out that great but that was a great hire at the time.
Kelly never fit in Louisiana. LSU was his retirement policy. And don’t say what about Saban. Kelly’s from Massachusetts, Saban’s from West Virginia, big difference.
