Absolutely idiotic to schedule this game in this era. Zero excuse and should be a fireable offense
And what makes it even worse is the first game and at their place. Is someone at LSU trying to to sabotage the program.

Especially for someone like Arch, thats like including what Patrick Mahomes makes from State Farm or LeBron makes from Nike in the teams Salary Cap.
Difference is Mahomes in actually being paid for his name, likeness and image. He is very elite proven recognized NFL player. 99% of college players are not paid for their NIL, their just being paid for coming to the boosters school. Think about it this way, if Mahomes or LeBron had gone to another team would State Farm or Nike drop them, No. if the QB recruit that went to Michigan for 12 million decided to transfer to another school would his NIL deal end, yes.

While UT isn't "spending" all that money, I think its fair to say "UT + UT boosters" are spending that much money. If you want to compare how much money a team/coach has access to, in my opinion you have to consider booster money as well.
Remember when a booster buying a recruit a burger was a major violation. 0 to millions in the blink of an eye. I don’t think this was ever the intent of paying players.

Was hoping we’d see Sherrin tonight. Doubt an SEC will be his first appearance.

Canada is like a huge Minnesota, there is no way they were going to elect a conservative. I don’t care what polls said. Treadeau was a Castro sympathizer, and look how long he stayed in office.

We sweep, texas sweeps hogs, auburn could win 3 with tenner. We be sitting pretty
Highly unlikely you sweep. 2 of 3 will be hard. Win 1 and a super is still doable. A&M has been playing good and will very tough at home. Arkansas struggles on the road and South Carolina just struggles. 4 of 6 down the stretch is possible even probable. Just don't get swept this weekend.

The goal should be get 2 every weekend and we have 2 stud starters and 2 studs we can close or use for game 3 if needed.
This is what most fans refused to accept. You are playing very good SEC teams. The stars may align a you get a sweep. Sweeps may happen, but the goal should be 2 of 3. We were extremely close to going 1 of 3 this weekend.

Jay knew Shores wasn’t the Sunday guy. His problem was compounded by the current lack of quality pitching depth. Basically it’s a rob Peter to pay Paul scenerio. You go with Evans or Cowan and the Friday and Saturday relief is shorted. Jay was probably hoping someone like Ware or Schmidt would step up.

I’m pumped at the win but LSU was two routine ground balls to 3B from losing. This lineup was dominated for 98% of the game.
Doyle is probably the best in the SEC. Tenn was favored to win this game.

I think Jay needs to stop filling the staff with a bunch of high ceiling guys that have to learn to pitch and start recruiting more Cowan like guys. Guys that may not throw 95 but can hit spots and have an out pitch. Sure you take some high ceiling guys but you need reliable college guys too.
Excellent post. Jay needs to use the portal for proven experienced pitchers and not projects or pitchers with a possible high ceiling. Cowan is a great example, Eyanson is another. Unfortunately Sherrin may have been a third. High school recruiting is for high ceiling pitchers that you have time to develop.

No, but the players that were recruited by Maineri did.

All this may be true, but the schedule is going to get much tougher in the 2nd half of the SEC season. I highly doubt we finish with a 10-5 record for the remaining games.
That’s why they needed to at least take one this weekend. The remaining SEC schedule is harder. 20 wins is a stretch now. I believe hosting a super regional will be difficult. Tennessee, Arkansas and a revitalized A&M gonna be tough.

One week of enhanced tariffs isnt breaking a countries economy. Chinas economy is already doomed due to past practices.
The fu@&$ it doesn’t. You know how much exports are scheduled to leave China every week for the USA. Now add a huge tariff on that and see how much goes actually goes out and how much is canceled. The liberal media may deny it, but we have their full attention.

Jay brought in Skenes Cooper Hurd Jones Guidry Several others and had to rerecruit Beloso after his knee injury. The lefty right fielder
2023 Maineri recruits : Cruz, Morgan, Thompson, Dugas, Belaso, Travinski, Jobert, Malizzo, and Pearson, basically ever good hitter but White and Jones. 2 out of his first 3 seasons were below LSU’s expectations, reaching a super regional. This season? I’m not saying Johnson is not a good coach, just not an elite coach.

How’d Maineri do with said players?
These players were mostly veterans for Johnson: Dugas, Belaso, Cruz, Morgan, Travinski, Malliso, Jobert. Dugas anad Belaso were utilizing extra COVID years. Laval could have probably succeeded inheriting those guys.

Jay won a natty with mostly Maineri players, especially the hitters.

re: Think maybe LSU pitching coach is a problem
Posted by da prophet on 4/11/25 at 7:07 pm
Don’t know about firing anyone, but it seems like either Johnson or Yeskie missed with Dutton big time. For a pitcher to go to another SEC team and be their ace shows a failure of the LSU coaching staff.
