The last time the SEC was in this good of shape at quarterback?

Watching Youtube yesterday and Mel Kiper said that if they were draft eligible, Keelon Russell and Kamario Taylor would be 1 and 2 on his quarterback big board. The other draft analyst nodded along.
Kiper and Yates also had Austin Simmons as a possible first round pick and #5 overall. Manning was number 2 on both big boards. Tennessee and Florida are both feeling great about their future at quarterback. Vanderbit's QB is the their highest rated recruit in school history. Gunner Stocton has thrown more touchdowns than incompletions this season and was 7th in the Heisman last season. Lanorris Sellers might end up being a first round pick based on one team falling in love with his potential.
All that's dragging the SEC down right now are LSU and A&M, whose quarterbacks are fourth to last and dead last in the country in quarterback rating right now respectively.

I think Taylor could be a top 5 pick eventually. I don't know about the other two. Russell has a ways to go in the passing game. Simmons is still very inaccurate but he has a monster arm.
If a team drafts LaNorris Sellers in the first two rounds, that GM should be fired on the spot. He's KJ Jefferson 2.0, which makes him a solid college QB but not much more.
Kiper had Shadeur Sanders as a top 5 pick.
My general problem with sports media is that everything is hyperbolic and nothing has nuance. Obviously not all 4 of those QBs are going to be first round picks.

Keelon is still trying to figure out how to start a football game. Mel ought to know by now that talent alone does not make a great QB. It takes a lot of time, reps, and muscle memory.

If he has the early RW success, everyone will want him. TC has everything you want except the measurables.

Can definitely see that for A&M's QB that I watched some against Kentucky. Plays I saw he looked really bad and was the reason they lost.
I'm obviously missing some of the poor play of Leavitt.
Every time I looked over at the Clemson game he was breaking lose for big gains, playing smart. Thought he was a very positive factor in their win and then again as I watched more of the 4th quarter of the Ole Miss game then the first half when LSU started their comeback, he looked good to me.
He must have stunk up the first half to have such a low rating. Hasn't he been hurt some or was that just Kiffin being a butthole.

LSU had like 40 total yards halfway through the 2nd quarter. Leavitt shouldn't get all of the blame though.

it's too early for either. I really hope Taylor is the real deal and signs so far are good, but he, like Russell are in the first season as starters and the SEC gauntlet is just getting started. No telling what each will look like as the season progresses.
With that said, it should make for some interesting SEC football this season.

Might be a little early on this one. He looked pretty good against kU, but had a shaky game against Troy. He certainly has an arm, but just need more data on the lad. We'll find out more this weekend.
