They are rivals/not rivals. They go together like lamb and tuna fish.

Most of these guys sat out with injuries all year, just frees up more money for the portal. Petrino is really good at evaluations. they will stack another good portal class.

His first season here last time was 5 wins. Hopefully we’ll get enough ammunition to make some noise. Pittman aside, this is his offense so he’ll have the say about it so we’ll see if he can pull a rabbit out of his hat this time.
Hopefully the defense can reload as well.

Arkansas is better off strictly getting players from the portal.
No need to get players from high school, pay and develop them just for them to leave after a few years so that your rivals can use against you. Waste of time and money.
Selma Bridges one of the top recruits from the 2024 class who has never played a down, entered the portal.

Money.
This is what surprises me.
With Texas coming in, I was thinking the old money Arkansas people would finally step up and give that program the support it has long needed.
There is a giant amount of potential, Arkansas needs someone to lead the Athletic Department that has the ability to harness the power of the Alumni base.

You mean Jalen Braxton, the cornerback who played one game this year?

we have little money to “pay” them.
NIL is a fool's game, but I can see more of the billionaire types being willing to underwrite the athletic department's expenses. Money is fungible and they can use it (hopefully wisely) for the player revenue sharing.

UGA is up to 3 in the transfer portal.
2 are WR's. Looks like we'll be adding in the portal at WR again.
Kind of surprising that UGA/Texas/Tennessee are all having entrants even though they're in the playoffs. You'd think they'd wait until after the playoffs are done. Maybe the schedule doesn't work that way anymore.

Arkansas needs a salesman like Frank Broyles but the current AD is not much on sales pitch.

Braylen Russell to the portal.
Make that 22.

Wonder what his reasoning would be? He was poised to be the bell cow

None of the Texas players in the portal played significant minutes this season outside of maybe the WR Cook.
It is what it is. No reason to stick around for the playoffs if you're not going to contribute anyway.

Petrino is really good at doing player talent analysis , nfl guy. A lot of programs are amateurs.

He didn't do very good with the evaluation of Taylen Green.
