And render all bowls meaningless? Good luck with that.

they're already meaningless, and no one really cares that they've attached bowl game names to rounds of the CFP. It's not the same and never will be again

Wrong.

The "lesser" bowls in early-mid December featuring 6-6 or 7-5 Group of 5 powerhouses should be swapped out as playoff games.

Some people have to get up for work at 4-5 AM. Game often kicks off at 8 CST and doesn’t end til midnight.

I hope it's OK to ask, but aren't you retired?

And how does that idea look if and when Ole Miss or Arkansas get deep in the run? Might be great college towns, but they are not convenient to get to.

SEC veterans may be fine making that trip, but big media and visitors from the west coast or northeast trying to get there in the thousands (in winter)? It would be a cluster.

How will attendance be when Columbus, OH gets socked in with snow and ice and the windchill is 16 degrees at kickoff?

Yeah, that sounds so much nicer than south Florida.

Totally disagree. Every playoff game should take place on a neutral field.

The entire thing should be played in the most plastic, taxpayer-subsidized pomo monument of ultrawoke late-stage crony capitalism that can be found.

We deserve nothing less.

Nothing like a big game in front of a home crowd.

Penn State would put on a show.

Sorry, but playing in State College, PA in December or January in a high stakes game in the elements.... I don't want it.

I do like the first round games being on campus because it could force southern teams to play in freezing could weather for once...

but once you get past that round... I'd rather see teams be able to play without being hindered by weather.

NFL deals with it just fine.

The championship game should be the only neutral site game

How many NFL “snow and ice” games have you watched on TV that were actually enjoyable to watch? They are sloppy, miserable exhibitions. Often times the bigger story is the weather, not the game. And that is sitting in a warm comfortable chair inside. Imagine being there.

Yeah, let’s do just like the NFL.

We have stripped away a lot of things to change this sport most of us love into something most of us dont recognize anymore. That would take away from the prestige of the few remaining post season games with have left.

Have you been in a coma?

Essentially every bowl stadium and non-campus historic venue has been replaced for many years now. The only non-campus stadiums in use that matter are: 1) Rose bowl and 2) Cotton bowl. UCLA wants out of the Rose bowl. The Cotton bowl bowl game has been played at Jerryworld for many years now.

Play the 2nd round games on campus for the top 4 seeds. It makes even more sense if we go to 16 and eliminate the byes. Top 8 seeds would get a huge advantage which they should. Once you get to the final 4, then switch to neutral site bowl games. So you end up with 3 of (rose, sugar, cotton, orange, fiesta, peach) and they rotate every other year. National championship would be hosted by one of those 6 every 6 years

The way to make the other bowls matter is to create a 2nd playoff each year. The NIL Playoff. Players/schools get NIL money for each round they advance. Tie in AQ’s to the 2nd and 3rd highest G5 champ. Give all 4 P4 conferences their top team left out of CFP. Plus 2 teams picked by committee, giving you 8 teams. First round played at the best 4 non-major bowls. Round of 4 and championship played at the 3 major bowls not hosting the CFP that year

This would give meaning to 12 bowl games each year. Could still have some other bowls for fun like we do now

Absolutely… until the Championship Game. That should be neutral but the earlier rounds should for sure be on campus with a requirement that the visiting fanbase get at least 12,000 tickets and guarantee at least 5k of those in the lower bowl.

Would be insane atmospheres.

Every game but the final should be, like the NFL model, but it will never happen due to stadiums like Autzen that have a capacity of 54,000. It’s not what’s best for the fans/sport in general, it’s about making money

It would be funny if we drew the G5, Big 12, and ACC at home.

the higher seed should gain an advantage. Forcing a fanbase to travel to neutral site games 3 weeks in a row is a bit ridiculous also. I don't see Buffalo fans crying about going to cold weather games.

One of the snowiest football games I ever watched was the Independance bowl in Shreveport i remember some pretty damn sloppy fields for bowl games in florida also. Maybe we should restrict all playoff games to dome stadiums?

Totally agree. The only game I could be ok with is the title game at a neutral site. Other than that, spot on for sure.
