The Dawg Fight - Position Breakdown

Ahead of the game of the week in Athens, this is my attempt at an objective analysis of who has the edge at each position group this week.
Offense
----------------------
QB - State
Nick Fitzgerald is coming off a scorching outing against LSU. Consistency and following up with another big game are the things to watch for here. In the past he has been somewhat streaky with the potential to light up the field, or struggle trying to do too much instead of taking what the D gives him.
OL - State
Anchored by LT Martinas Rankin, and to most everyone's surprise, this group has been nothing short of dominant this season.
RB - UGA
While state has had great RB production itself, and Junior Aeris Williams getting some recent comparisons to Leveon Bell, you cannot discount Nick Chubb. I really hate that he got injured because I truly believe this guy could be a generational talent.
WR - UGA
Again, State has looked better than expected here. But for the time being, the edge has to go to UGA due to playmakers like Sony Michele.
TE - State
This is a deep unit for us with 3 very capable TE's who block well and are a major threat in the passing game.
Defense
------------------
DL - State
This is another point where the dawgs have been dominant. Held down by, possibly the best in the league, Jeffrey Simmons. The big uglies up front open the way for Montez Sweat and Gerri Green to wreak havoc in the backfield. The only thing that will make this group stronger is when Chauncey Rivers joins the mix next year.
LB - State
Again, this is an impressive group of players. Anchored by Dez Harris and Leo Lewis, with Grantham's focus on cross training, it's as deep as it is talented.
CB - UGA
Though State has greatly improved here, the jury is still out. UGA will present a new threat by being capable in the air game while forcing State to always respect the run.
Safety - State
Another deep and talented position group. Anchored by Brandon Bryant, Mark McLaurin, and a name UGA fans remember in Jonathan Abram. Much like the DL, Brian Cole joining the mix next season is all this group could ask for.
Special Teams
------------------------
Punter - State
Logan Cooke has been nothing short of fantastic on punt and kick off duties. Look for this one on Sundays next season.
FG - Push
A position of concern a few weeks ago, State seems to have found a diamond in the rough with freshman walk on Jace (Jesus) Christmann who went 3/3 and a long of 45 last week.
-----------------------------
I expect State to win this one in the trenches. However, UGA has the skill players it takes to overcome that edge. This one will come down to State's ability to limit/avoid the big plays.
Looking forward to a good matchup dawgs.

They'll fight you on LBs and scoff at the Bell comparison, but the rest looks reasonable.

UGA's punting has been great...our DL has been great.

Their LBs are more experienced than ours. That's always an edge at home. Everything else looks alright. O-line might be a push, LSU wasn't really a test so it's still up in the air.

Our DL and LB's are definitely deeper and more talented.
You probably have the edge at Safety.
Offense: TE is debatable since we have 2 studs in Nauta and Blazevich...even though they are under utilized IMO.

Can't discount the fact that State is 3-0, but I have never heard of more than half of the State guys that you listed here.
Also,
Come on man. You don't really believe these "comparisons," do you? You guys have played two terrible teams and an LSU team that was without its best defensive lineman and its best linebacker was coming off of injury. Plus, it was at home.

I love A-Train but that comparison was a bit silly. I don't even know who made it

You forgot -
History - UGA
Will apparently be worth anywhere from 14 to 17 pts on Saturday.

OK

Anchored by LT Martinas Rankin, and to most everyone's surprise, this group has been nothing short of dominant this season.
OK
RB - UGA
While state has had great RB production itself, and Junior Aeris Williams getting some recent comparisons to Leveon Bell, you cannot discount Nick Chubb. I really hate that he got injured because I truly believe this guy could be a generational talent.
And Swift, And Michel...more talented and deeper
WR - UGA

OK

Nope. If Chaney would throw them the fricking ball. Its a push at best.
Defense

Simmons might be the best Dline player on the field Saturday, but as a unit, UGA is just as if not more talented from a depth perspective. Push
LB - State
Again, this is an impressive group of players. Anchored by Dez Harris and Leo Lewis, with Grantham's focus on cross training, it's as deep as it is talented.
100% False. UGA all day.
CB - UGA

Meh, our secondary is actually a bit of ??? until we get Parrish back, which may or may not happen this week
Safety - State
Another deep and talented position group. Anchored by Brandon Bryant, Mark McLaurin, and a name UGA fans remember in Jonathan Abram. Much like the DL, Brian Cole joining the mix next season is all this group could ask for.
Domm Sanders is all SEC, but I'll give you the edge as we are young

Jim Donnon said on Bo Bounds this morning that Georgia is going to get slaughtered

Our fanbase isn't worried about your second tier program. The fact you think you have better LB's only highlights how delusional and misinformed you are.
Our LB's are going to wreck Fitzgerald just like we wrecked Brandon Wimbush at Notre Dame. Notre Dame has two day one NFL prospects on the O-Line and we punished them when it counted and frustrated Wimbush all day. Wimbush is a much more talented runner than white boy Fitzgerald.

You mean our old coach that got fired because he couldn't beat tech and then never left athens? Donnan is up there with Fran tarkenton as old guys that spend way too much time offering their uninformed opinions to anyone that will listen because they had some success in the sport decades ago.
