not really criticism per se, imho. goes like this - kid is a great athlete with a lot of poise, and has the abilities to be a great college qb for Alabama. BUT, if you put him on the roster of practically any other top 10 school, how would he do? the perception is that he would not win championships without the Alabama defense and special teams.

for Alabama, he does enough to win games. but I wouldn't want him as LSU's qb. even though we have a good defense, I dont' want to go back to a so-so passer at qb. we've had that for so many years, and are just now poised to come out of that purgatory.

that's my 2 cents worth.

So, my takeaway from your post is that you feel having the Alabama defense makes it easier to win.

I agree.

Pump the brakes

When did we have a QB good enough to label him "so-so"?

Jalen Hurts is probably worse strictly as s passer

I don't think Saban really wants him either; he doesn't have much choice. But they've probably gotten used to using rb's at qb.

I think he should be a running back as elusive as he is.

His running ability makes him dangerous every snap. I dont think he would be near as good at a lesser school but would still be more than adequate of a qb

I actually had a couple of bammers tell me that he could turn pro after his junior year. It took me a couple of hours to stop laughing

Saban has pulled the reins back on passing. Love Saban, but he is not about developing anything other than a qb that can manage a game.

Go back to? Is the implication here that you have moved on to a better than so-so passer?

They are right in as much as he has the over all talent, but in being honest, his talent will not be realized under Saban. He is not a coach that develops passers. Hurts will play the same roll as everyother qb that bama has had and he will pass it in a limited roll by design.

The bama system doesnt need a passing qb. Just a qb that can when needed 60% of the time.

i think every one is kinda missing the mark with jalen. jalen can throw, any throw needed, good arm strength. hes getting better at hitting wr's on the move. his number one drawback is, he does not look for option two. he either throws to the first option or he runs. when he reaches the point of keeping his eyes on the options downfield and making those throws, he will be an excellent qb. hes so comfortable taking off after option one right now, its automatic for him.

Why do some people like to act like Alabama is running the Maryland I and throwing 11 times a game?

2013 AJ McCarron - 26 pass attempts per game
2014 Blake Sims - 28 pass attempts per game
2015 Jake Coker - 26 pass attempts per game
2016 Jalen Hurts - 26 pass attempts per game
