quote:But he wasn't.. Therefore bust.
He could have been a 3 year starter.
Jamarcus Russell could have been an all-pro but he got fat so he wasn't.. That's how this works.

Tyler Love, BJ Scott, and Frazier as mentioned.
Byron Cowart was the top guy and will be a junior entering next season IIRC. He's capable of making this list of he's not careful.

Gridiron's biggest SEC busts
Not a bad list, Bryce Brown and Gary Brown were the biggest IMO from the list. The rest of the writeups for each are at the link.
Love and Scott (mentioned in thread)were big busts for Bama, but the Brent Calloway saga and Eddie Williams school bully drama beat them out for UA imo.
quote:
Alabama
Player: OT Tyler Love.
Year: 2008.
Arkansas
Player: QB Mitch Mustain
Year: 2006.
AUBURN
Player: OLB Lemarcus Rowell
Year: 2001
FLORIDA
Player: DT Gary Brown
Year: 2009.
The skinny: There are busts and then there are busts. Brown falls in the latter category: He was a five-star prospect who never played a down of college football. He had weight and grade problems, then was eventually bounced from the program in 2010 after an arrest; he allegedly hit a woman who ordered some partygoers to leave her apartment.
GEORGIA
Player: DE Brandon Miller.
Year: 2004.
KENTUCKY
Player: QB Morgan Newton
Year: 2009.
LsU
Perrilloux
Year: 2005.
MISSISSIPPI STATE
Player: DT Quay Evans
Year: 2012.
MISSOURI
Player: WR Dorial Green-Beckham
Year: 2012.
OLE MISS
Player: QB Robert Lane
Year: 2003.
SOUTH CAROLINA
Player: WR Shaq Roland
Year: 2012.
TENNESSEE
Player: RB Bryce Brown
Year: 2009.
The skinny: He was a five-star signee who was considered the nation’s top recruit by some and, at the least, a top-three guy by everybody. Brown, who was from Kansas, was the centerpiece of the first (and, as it turned out, only) recruiting class put together by Lane Kiffin at Tennessee. He had a handler who set up a pay site that provided “updates” on Brown’s recruitment. While he committed to Miami, Brown didn’t sign on National Signing Day, and his recruitment lasted another month before he chose the Vols. Brown was a backup to Montario Hardesty as a true freshman and ran for 460 yards. But that was it. Kiffin left after the season, for the USC job, and Brown followed suit a few months later, heading “home” to Kansas State.
TEXAS A&M
Player: OT Jorrie Adams.
Year: 2003.
VANDERBILT
Player: QB David Koral
Year: 2001.

Funny. Because the Barn started this thread and I don't see them mentioned
I've seen Auburn posters mention Raashaun Evans....not Reuben Foster.

Dorial Green-Beckham
He should have left Columbia owning every receiving record.
Instead, he got cuffed and stuffed 3 times in 3 semesters of school, ran sloppy routes, and had questionable ball skills.

Came here to say this. This year would have been Shaq Roland's Senior Season....sigh.

Ray Ray Bivenes
who was the QB who was throwing passes for Bivens? I think that this is a key clue into solving why Ray Ray didn't pan out...the guy seemed legit out of high school.

Mustain wasnt a bust. He never lost a game.
Honestly think ricky town is in the running. 5 star qb, 4th on depth chart, passed up by a there star true freshman. Its the gut factor. He was ranked that high and I mean he does nothing whatsoever that suggests ges a college quarterback let alone a good one

BYRON COWART (until I see MUCH more progress)

Tray Blackmon was Reuben foster before Reuben. Wasted that talent too. Raven gray. King Dunlap (great NFL career).

The only answer for South Carolina is Ricardo Hurley.

I would say there have been bigger bust at UGA than Brandon Miller. He may not have lived up to 5 Star status but he was starter for multiple years. Akeem Hebron was a 5 Star and he probably played less than 20 snaps in his career.
