Kiffin's probably thinking if O can take out Saban so can he. Kiffin wants to bury him for good.

Unfortunately his center and QB were still inside the box when he made the play call

Kiffin chose Ole Miss because the road map was already written by Freeze. Freeze cut corners because where the program was before he got there, but he proved that his Offense could be successful in the SEC with less talent. The road would be much harder for Kiffin at Ark or Mizzu.

Kiffin has expressed his appreciation and admiration for Saban a lot. Doesn't really seem like ill will to me?

I don't think the writer quite understands the recruiting dynamic in the SEC. There could a handful of SEC schools going for a single recruit.

What would cause an OC to call for a play that no one in crimson knows?

Yea - this definitely feels like a "I have a story I want to write let me fit some things I've heard and know inside a box to tell it".
Wouldn't shock me from Suttles, TBH.

It would have been absolute gold if Auburn could have hired Lane

One that was checked out and unable to handle the duties of OC and obligations for future job at FAU.

Kiffin was embarrassed. Kiffin was angry. Kiffin hasn’t forgotten.
That dismissal fueled Kiffin’s desire to return to the SEC and a burning passion to exact revenge on Saban, multiple people with knowledge of the matter told The Athletic. Now that he’s the head coach at Ole Miss, he sees the chance to do so.
So defiling Nick’s daughter wasn’t sufficient revenge?

Yea - and I don't hold ill will towards him, he was really excited to kind of start fresh after all the stuff at Tennessee/USC.........but Saban didn't just wake up one morning after the Final Four game and think "you know what, fvck Lane!"

Yeah I like Lane. The more I think about it the more this is just bullshite from Suttles to get clicks.

Which play in particular was it? And what was the result/ reaction?
I don't recall anything in particular in that game other than a fairly conservative game plan on offense

I don't remember the specifics now as it has been a few years, but we called in a play and both Bozeman and Hurts stared at the sideline......Kiffin called it in again and both guys stared, play clock ran down, we called timeout.
After the timeout Saban came out and started yelling at Bozeman and Bozeman threw his hands up in the air and was clearly pissed off. Later it was pretty widely confirmed that Kiffin relayed in a play that they hadn't run the entire season (it was a play they used in 2014/2015 but not in the Hurts-centric offense).
