People in the south just sit at home or in their cars driving around all day
NYC has thinner people because people actually walk around
NYC also has the best looking women in the world

Whew, Rayne missed the list.

The obesity problem is absolutely out of control in this country. Look at pictures of people out at the beach, those 4K upscaled videos of people walking around from years ago, etc from the 1970s and before, and you will see that almost everyone is relatively trim. To be sure, I am not built like a Greek god, but if you walk around now, like 40-50% of the people walking around are as big as like 4-5% fifty years ago.
Processed food, fast food, soft drinks, etc are the cheapest food options. Poor people eat shitty food. Shitty diets lead to being fat. People cooked at home a lot more 50 years ago

Highly inaccurate
And, who cares if you're fit if you are a douche or high maintenance chick
I'm all for general fitness, but southern culture is the best in the US. Its about who you'd rather spend your time with that counts, as all life is short. The attitudes and biases of the people in the large urban areas across the country, specifically in the Northeast, are generally not people I want to hang out with.

I was at a waterpark in Georgia a few weeks ago and at least 70% of the white people I saw were extremely fat. Was probably 90% for black men and about 99% for black women.
Everybody is failing, some worse than others.
I can only imagine but if it is anything like any lake or beach anywhere they ain't no body shaming going on like there used to be...folks will be nearly about naked who ought to be ashamed to be fully clothed...young women especially....bikinis so small they wouldn't fit a Barbie Doll and asses and bellies so big they wouldn't fit in a Barbie Doll factory...I ain't exactly what one would call a picture of health but I ain't sporting around the beach with no shirt on for no reason. Folks have no shame at all no more...I ain't overly judgemental but we went to Daytona Beach last year for a week (bad as it ever was) and every once in a while some old gal would come stumbling down the beach in a bikini who wouldn't have left the house in the 70s and 80s...and almost no one was skinny or close to skinny. I spend a bunch of time on the boat on local lakes and it is the same on the lakes...folks nearly naked who ought not be.

People also didn't work 2 jobs and a side hustle to pay for a shitty apartment 50 years ago.
median household income in 1970 was $9,870
average (public) college tuition in 1970 was $394 a year
median cost of a house in 1970 was $23,400
Now..
median household income now is $70,784

median cost of a house now is $436,800

West Virginia is the fattest state but it didn't make the list because it doesn't have any cities.

The RGV is more Midwestern than southern (talking about the historical white population). I disagree that parts of texas aren’t southern though. Same with Oklahoma. Are they the west? Lol

Agreed. The decline of purchasing power of the average American, combined with the fact that the cheapest food available is super unhealthy, is a huge part of the obesity problem,

What are you trying to say, Yankees stereotype too much?

You don't know shite about the Northeast.

Combine this with increasingly sedentary lifestyles, and there's your problem.
