Only in college football could it be conceivably possible to lose 2 out of 3 to the one team in the same season and yet still be crowned national champ over said team.
this isn’t even close to being true

The entire conference looked at your schedule and probably concluded that you would end up in SECCG. The question was whether it would be undefeated in conference play or not.

Oh bullshite!
All we heard was how Texas wasn't SEC ready and would be exposed by the SEC GRIND. Texas didn't know what they were getting into, blah, blah, blah. aggy to the end were talking the "don't know what Texas is getting into" with their almighty Kyle field advantage, night game crap.
As play continued during the season, and we all found out that some of these teams weren't as strong as initially thought, the narrative changed to Texas hasn't played anybody, or not a real SEC schedule. I'll concede Texas has faced off against a weak schedule, but it wasn't thought so before the season began as you say.
That is all.

The team that wants the bye less..

12/07 - SEC CCG

12/21 - Round 1 (lose and play here)

12/31 - Round 2 (win and play here)

If Oregon beats Penn State, Texas has a really good shot at the 5 seed if they lose to Georgia.

#5 vs #12 Arizona State/Iowa State
winner plays #4 Boise State

That's obviously a way better path to the Final 4.

But there is no way to guarantee that we would be #5.. so I guess you try and win and then deal with the time off.

Agree with this. I will say Wisner & our OL/DL have looked a ton more physical since they got whipped in the 1st half in Austin. Glad that woke them up. Ewers is the wildcard.

And looks like DeBoer’s Bama teams too.

I favor UGA.

The reason is that UGA didn't play a great game in the first matchup. Offensively they laid a complete egg yet still won 30-15. While Texas didn't play well either, it's not like UGA played their top game to win.

That suggests that UGA is probably the better team and will win if both play to the same level.

That being said, Texas can still win if they play a good game and UGA plays a bad one.

But I'd say UGA wins this 2 out of 3 times.

They could easily end up meeting three times given the current format.

Whorns. Texas seems to have progressed as Georgia seems to have regressed. Carson Beck lost himself few games ago and hasn’t returned since then

There are a lot of bad takes in this thread, but this might be the worst.

In the last three games Beck has thrown for 941 yards, with 11 TD's and no ints.

Ewers have thrown for 585 yards, with 5 TD's and 1 int.

Who has regressed again??

Right you were just ranked number one because they thought you stern any good and couldn't make it to the SECCG....

We were ranked #1 (briefly) because we beat Michigan. Keep up.

Ewers has to be out of eggs by now. One would think.

But yes, he can lose the game if he gets too charitable with the football. Otherwise, Texas wins. And possibly, Texas wins anyway.

Defense wins championships.

Indiana beat Michigan

If Texas plays the same way that they played against aTm, Georgia will win by 17.

Umm... but you didn't. You lost a game. That means you required other teams to lose.

Texas needed the following to happen.

UGA lose 2 games so that head to head wouldn't be the tie breaker.

All of the teams Texas didn't play to lose 2 games to take them out of a potential tiebreaker.

Any team with a conference loss required help to make the SECCG. Even your beloved longhorns.

Because... math.

and what of the re-re-match in the CFP, it could happen - playing twice in the same season is bad enough, imagine playing 3X

It's hard to beat a good team twice. So, my $ is on the horns. I can't imagine what happens in game 3.

We said that with Beck after the eggs he had against Bama, Florida, Texas and MSU. But he still threw another egg up against Ole Miss.

They always have another egg.

This gets said a lot.

But there have been 7 rematches in the SECCG before this one.

The team that won the first game won the second in 5 times out of those 7.

In both cases where the team that lost the first game ended up winning the SECCG, they lost the first game on the road.

Texas lost the first game at home.
