Let’s all be clear about what’s happening: you have one former player turned billionaire super fan bank rolling a roster. Hat’s off to him, good for him. But Tech doesn’t have the donor base, the brand, proximity to recruits, or national reach to become a legit power over the long haul. SMU has a much higher ceiling.

Cody knows this all this, so he’s going all in during this unique, yet closing, window of time. The funny part is watching him doing while going around the country talking about saving college sports. That guy has one interest: Texas Tech. I sure ain’t mad at him for it. We’d all love to know have a donor like him.

Certainly multiple Big 12 championships in the near term. Doubt much more.

Think Zooey Deschanel but a bit older.

Mike Leach isn’t there anymore

You are located in a shithole that has been surpassed by Amarillo

It won’t last. They will perpetually be at a resource disadvantage compared to B1G and SEC programs, which will only continue to widen. NIL spending can’t change that.

If you survived that as a fan, you are ready to adopt the Cleveland Browns. Hell you could survive a nuclear holocaust unscathed

And there it is, from an an aggy no less who has won nothing since the 90's. Its the brand you are all afraid of. The fact that a blue blood, and aggy is not even on that convo, has new money and is finding success within the new rules that scare you.
It's no longer a who won a championship back in the 60's game. NIL has made the playing field even, and some of you can't stand it.

Deal with it.

All you need now is a good HC! You have the money to buy out the amazing coach who is the best playcaller I've even seen from UF. You should talk to some people...please?

Tech has all the pieces in place. Don't hate the player hate the game.

Then consider your team lucky if they get them in the first round. I'm not sure I would though, they look solid.

I’m not a tech fan or grad but saying Lubbock is a dump when you went to school in Bryant/College Station is a bit tone deaf because that town ain’t much to write home about either.

Either of those two are loads better than Lubbock. So yeah, you're just saying Lubbock is really a dump.

I’ve been to both. Lubbock is more fun than college station. But that’s not very hard to do tbh

mazing to behold, we used to arm tackle and dive at feet. Now our D-Line is knocking the F* out of people and dropping ball carriers as if hit by a .3006 on first contact. Also overpowering the O-lines-- and Utah had by all accounts, a very good oline. This is very encouraging fundamental aspect of the game we've lacked. And we can still move the football with the #1 offense in the country. My only concern is red zone O sucked against UH. We only had 3 TD's. We can do better.

The playoffs are going to be a rough wake up call for you but just getting there is an accomplishment. Winning is fun no matter the conference.
It could be worse. Your program could be managed by sark. You don’t want that. No one does

I’ve come around on Lubbock. Was given it as part of my sales territory a decade ago and have seen it grow into a pretty cool college town.

It used to be a dry county but once they changed that a lot of bars and restaurants came up around campus

They also have some ridiculous new sports facilities.

If you haven’t been in the last 5 years you wouldn’t recognize it.

You can do worse.

They no longer have to worry about the Sooners and Longhorns keeping them in check

I don’t recall the longhorns being a threat to anything

Yeah, I drove through there last month on my way to Montana. There’s definitely worse places to hang out. I would take it over Austin at this point and it hurts to say that.

would be legit if the campus was in San Antonio

I’d rather live in Lubbock.

And it ain't close. If one is a goose/duck/crane/dove hunter there is not a better place in the US than the Lubbock area. The town itself isn't much but it is also not a shite hole devoid of conveniences of life. Outside of the oil patch, farming or the University I suspect it'd be hard to earn a decent living though....not that that would be unusual in most areas with similar populations. San Antonio is a great 3 day weekend. Living there would suck arse.

Has TT played anyone with a winning record? If so who have those teams played to earn a winning record? I know that TTs schedule is usually a snooze fest so can't imagine its any better now than it has always been.

it’s a joke calling the Big XII a power conference still.

Utah and BYU are your toughest opponents and only ranked teams TT will play throughout the entire season. It’s the Mountain West
