Yeah, the FL loss was horrible, and the OT win against KY my be even worse, optically. With that said, TX would destroy SMU and Tulane. I know the stupid rules, but sacrificial lambs getting a shot over a team that went into Ohio State and almost beating the defending national champion is kinda ridiculous Tulane gets in after getting destroyed by Ole Miss and UTSA and squeaking by South Alabama because they have an automatic bid due to being the tallest midget? That just doesn't make sense..

That’s the only reason Texas escaped. No practice leading up to that game.

That must explain the absolutely terrible decision making on his reads.

We Longhorns are 3-2 against bowl eligible teams

That and the fact that we ARE TEXAS! should get us into the playoffs

In reality there are only about 6-8 teams each season that really deserve a playoff shot. I'm not all that worked up about who gets the "bubble" slots. All of those teams had opportunities to not put themselves in the situation where they are on the bubble.

I'm fine with a 1-loss team from a crappy conference getting a shot instead of a 3-loss team from a good conference. Neither really "deserves" the spot, so giving the little guy his moment in the sun is fine with me.

The problem is that means you lost to a non-bowl eligible team.

That's worth 2-3 losses to a bowl eligible opponent.

At that point it’s just an “invitational” not a real playoff.

With autobids I don't think it's possible without screwing someone. The schedule strength of some of these teams is comically bad.

I predict things.
1. As much as I hope Bama beats Georgia, the laws of probability are against us. So, I think we’ll lose a close one.
2. If No. 1 happens, and Bama is left out, that’s the end of the SEC Championship game as we know it.
3. If Texas who Beat OU and Aggie are not allowed in, it’s the beginning of the end for the Regular season scheduling intersectional big time games. Why schedule OSU and play good and only lose by 7.
4. SEC GOING TO NINE GAMES WAS Dumb!!!!!! Their playoff hopes will get crushed next year with many teams who were 10-2 this year being 9-3 next year.

Ole OSU, Indiana, Clemson, BYU! SMU will play in their cupcake conferences and go 11-1 and worse 10-2 and with the committee only caring really about wins and losses, the SEC will get cremated.

Where the hell is Greg Sankey?

No way does Texas deserve to be in the playoffs. What arrogance and sense of entitlement!

Got the worse loss. If Texas only had two losses, one would still be to a 4-8 UF team.
is it worse than Bama's loss to a team that just got destroyed by that same 4-8 UF team? Worse than ND losing to directional Illinois last year yet playing for a natty?

That's Sark's point. If we had scheduled a directional reform school for our first game (like most of the country did) then that Florida loss wouldn't matter at all. I know we aren't getting in this year, but there are big flaws with how playoff teams are decided.

Sadest part about y'all missing the playoffs is missing out on watching the dirt pirates smoke y'all like a brisket.

I hope Sark doesn’t back out the game with us next year. I know we Buckeye fans love these big non-league match-ups. Sark would be smart to keep this game, we come to Texas next year and he will have home field advantage. This is a great series.

When we win or lose

We win

Why?

Because we run this conference now!

Did your quarterback play defense? How did Texas score so many points against Oklahoma? I know, Oklahoma was playing with injured players on defense, who were cleared by your medical staff to play.

Texas resume for road games is terrible

2 OT wins against Kentucky (2-6) and Miss St.(1-7)

losses at Ohio st., Florida (2-6), and blown out by Georgia

No, it's the same as any playoff where the "wildcards" are chosen by a committee. The last few teams in and out are always interchangeably unimportant.

True for the NCC basketball tournament as much as football.

Texas already played Sam Houston, UTEP and San Jose State in a row. Sark is saying they are entitled to 4 cupcakes to start?
Most SEC teams play four sacrificial lambs every year, some just break up the cupcake feast enough it's not too obvious...such as aggy feasting on Samford before playing us while we had Arky.
