Kind of surprised at how low their Asian demographics are. Doesn’t follow trend you are seeing at most other major universities. But I bet if you took it further and broke it down by advanced degrees it would look similar to many other schools

All of which can be explained by “Asian Density in STEM” and the fact that math and science scores in the US continue to slip and fall behind other parts of the world. Our immigration system likewise prioritizes people with advance degrees to make up for our failures in public education (and the failure isn’t on the people in education but instead its lack of public support), 83% of Asian immigrants come to this country holding advance professional degrees for industries that are in-demand

Ridiculous that a public institution would not prioritize American citizens over foreign nationals. It's not unique to UT Austin, and it's a national disgrace, in my opinion.

I hope the sports teams win all the games but f- the libs running that university. No way I'll pay for my daughter to marinate in that crap for 4 years.

She probably wouldn't get in anyway. Daughter of some good friends graduated in top 10% of her class in one of the most academically-rigorous Catholic prep schools here in Houston grew up wanting to go to Texas but couldn't get in there or A&M. LSU, Arkansas, and OU all gave her full scholarships and she went to OU.

Of course she's white which isn't the right color. But yeah something is screwed up with admissions. If Texas state schools have room for all these foreign students then they have room for the smart kids down the road.

Anyway I hate the idea of my daughter going out of state but sadly she'll probably get better opportunities there than here.
