I hate reading depressing crap like this. I don't know how I would react if the Noles and Gators stopped playing each other every year.

I would be right there with you, but A&M has one of the uniquest positions in maybe the history of college football. No conference has ever been dominant like the SEC is right now. And Texas A&M is taking the last great football recruiting frontier in to the conference by itself. It has the unique opportunity to cement a legacy. Yes. It does upset me. I know more teasips than anyone else. I'm going to HAngout Fest with a bunch of sips, right in the heart of Dixie. I love rivalries, and I love the one my school has been a part of for a very long time. But A&M was a small all-male military academy until the 70s. Once that changed(1975) A&M has a winning record(19-18) against the sips. For such an even rivalry, which A&M has a lead in, it sure doesn't seem like A&M has been a better program over that span. We've never broken through in the last 37 years. To be fair, they've only done it once, but they've had another great rivalry with Oklahoma. Our 24 game win streak against TCU, or something even more dominating against Baylor just isn't the same. We need to win a National Title. We came close in the 90s when we were beating LSU like a drum, but the SWC was crumbling and it was really poor timing. Now we have an opportunity for a rebirth. Yes, in an ideal world I'd love to play the sips, but we have something bigger in the works.

frick the raider rash..my god..those fricking fans make me wanna puke..

Actually I've been shocked that this isn't a universal opinion here. I've often hoped for a first strike against Lubbock, but then the damn Soviets wimped out and screwed up that dream. I don't think WVU or LSU fans on a week-long bender compare to Lubbock citizens, Tech students or not. Truly awful people.

But frick t.u. anyway.

Pretty good analogy, actually.

Personally I think it will be a while - at least 10 years but probably 20.

That would be the smart thing for them to do. The reason they haven't tried yet is simply pride. Truth be told, Texas didn't believe TAMU would pull the trigger on an SEC move, and their administration has been in scramble mode dealing with it ever since their bluff was called. Simply put, all of their history of how they've done business with us over the years no longer applies to the current complexion of the rivalry, and they honestly don't know what to do with the new status quo.

this I believe. the leadership at tejas are a bunch of whiny crybabies. screw the fans, screw college football, etc. a&m "disrespected" them are their inherent right to be the boss. aggies have to be laughing their arse off at their arrogance.

We are, and have been ever since they were formed in 1883, 7 years after the Aggies had been established. Laughing at their arrogance is a Texan tradition.

I actually did not know this. If true, UT is obviously being the bitches here.

man, what you may not also know, it Ut quit scheduling the aggies in EVERY SPORT. and, imo, convinced all the remaining big 12 schools to do the same thing. punishment type thing. juvenile.

Let me interpret this - A&M is content with losing to UT 76 times and is willing to let that record stand, rather than taking the risk of playing the game with a chance at losing and having the public perception that UT is the superior program reinforced.

You post this as if it's an example of poor logic. What kind of dipshit folds a royal flush out of some quixotic pride-quest like the one you are suggesting we should be concerned with? We couldn't care less about avenging losses against you guys that came from the days before television. We're on a quest to win a national championship and being here in the SEC while denying y'all any tool for comparison by not playing is the best way to do that. You'd like to distract from that with appeals to abstract notions, but only one thing really matters - chasing a natty.
