Guy on social media listed all Texas Colleges and Universities and how many times they have finished the season in the Top 4 in Football both FBS(AP) and FCS, Basketball, and Baseball.

SINCE 1940!!!

Texas AM 2 times.. freaking 2!!!
2022 CWS
2020 AP poll football..

Seriously how is this even remotely possible?

I know the whole post looks like a troll.. but seriously, I would have never thought this.

Waiting 41 years on football to win a title was a nightmare. We did finish in the top 4 a number of times, across the board.. I just can’t imagine.

You gotta be loyal to your school to do that.

I will say the 1940 thing is kind of silly as A&M athletics and the school as a whole were radically different for most of the post-WW2 era.

Up until the late 60s, it was basically a small military academy with compulsory ROTC membership and a narrow academic mandate. UT-Arlington had far more students in the 60s than Texas A&M College. UT-Austin had 4x the enrollment back then.

It wasn't until the 1970s when it was decided on as the new flagship institution for the state that it started to grow academically and athletically. Anything prior to that, you might as well be talking about the Citadel.

Yeah, it’s been tough. At least A&M has finished in the top five in football twice in the past 10 years. So there’s that…

The A&M baseball team made it to the semis of the College World Series last year. So there’s that also…

I’m sure he used 1940, because that’s when the AP came into being.. around that time.

You guys look so f**king stupid when you say this.

The ONLY thing that Texas A&M has ever done that mattered in the history of college football happened in the 1930s when you were a small military academy with compulsory ROTC membership and a narrow academic mandate.

Aggies are constantly at war with themselves, logic and heterosexuality.

You better put some respect on that brand. Those fightin' texas aggies are in a 20-way tie for 82nd place with two total top 4 finishes in CFB, MBB and baseball since the mid 1930s

You could be an aggie fan and watch your program spend over $100 million on a coach and $30 million on high school recruits to pretend like they've ever "been there" only to be App State's bitch

Nothing says administrative dysfunction quite like Texas and Texas A&M.

Tell me about it. Having an administration win the title for "best athletic department in the country" each of the past two years just REEKS of dysfunction

Title for the #19 ranked department? Congrats on that, I guess.

Shame it hasn't translated to anything but mediocrity with your major programs.

Why?

Look, I get that you have to play the teeth-gnashing mouth breather to really get ranting on this board but their is no denying that the A&M of the 60s and early 70s has absolutely zero resemblance to its modern day incarnation.

And that, along with a host of other reasons, is a big reason why Texas football peaked in influence and success in the mid-to-late 1970s and has, except for a brief glimmer of hope under Mack Brown, basically been the University of Minnesota since that point.
