I'd rather be Michigan than Michigan State. Mich State hasn't won a conference championship since 1990....

It’s a comforting anti-A&M article that Texas fans need to read. Like a warm blanket.

I made a simple comparison to a close instate school that has a semi recent hiring, it’s not too much of a stretch, XWing. But I’m not surprised you had to run and defend your school’s internet honor like always. If it makes you feel any better I could have listed Clemson hiring Dabo, LSU promoting Oregeron, and several other big schools that also hired unproven guys that worked out, does that make you feel better? Unlike several of your longhorn buddies on the rant, I don’t mention Texas in every post or topic I start.

I notice you don’t have an actual rebuttal to that statement. Sark was an unproven hire at the time and I’d say y’all are pretty happy with him right now. I’m still not sold he’s the real deal, one season doesn’t make a career, but he does look to be trending the right direction and more stable than Herman was.

Every coaching hire is a shot in the dark. The encouraging thing here is it seems aTm may have finally figured this out.

that is a shite article with a ridiculous big 10 comparison in a lame attempt to be provocative

i.e. the average sports writer article these days.

There is also a conveniently short memory on the part of Texas posters here. Sark has done a fine job the last three years, but the Longhorn fanbase was nearly universally disappointed that they had to opt for a reformed alcoholic that failed at multiple programs and had never achieved much of substance prior to working on Saban's staff.

They had to do that because they were paying off multiple fired coacahes at that point.

This smacks of one those guys that would rail you for spending big money to make another splash hire or rail you for taking a chance on an up and comer.

I’d be willing to bet that if we had money-whipped Dabo or Day to come here, his column would have been something along the lines of “A&M doubles down on a questionable strategy”.

Seems appropriate for a Tennessee beat writer to weigh in after y'all gave the best coach you could have hired the Schiano treatment.

Jonathan Smith was an excellent hire by MSU. That guy can coach.

Uh... is that not exactly what you're doing with your first post under this thread?

Lol how did I do that? All I said was you immediately went to whining about big meanie Texas when they weren't even mentioned by name. Thus, you're making the writer's point for them: you're forever a little brother in this state and you think like one, too.

Again... I never said you did? It was your first thought. You're literally letting them live rent free (which is exactly what this writer is saying).

...OK? I literally never said anything about up-and-coming coaches. I called you out for going out of your way to mention Texas when nobody else did.

Seems like this writer hit the nail on the head

Really is a dumb article, we went out and stole a National Championship winning coach from a blue blood for our previous hire and how did that work out?

“Stole” implies that 1) You didn’t massively overpay (which you did), and 2) FSU wanted to keep Jimbo —which by all accounts they didn’t since they hardly lifted a finger to retain him.
