Congrats on the hire. He’s a baseball coach I’ve heard of that wasn’t previously in the SEC, must mean he’s a good one.

Already down in CS recruiting this morning - have to love that. I'm interested to see who his staff is going to be

On the surface this looks like a no brainer HR hire....however I have some TCU friends and they are more excited to see what Saarloos can do as a head coach than they are sad to see Schlossnagle go.....in fact one of them told me they should have fired him before COVID because he was on his way down and looked like a man uninterested in coaching...I'm told him he was crazy.

We'll see how it ends up.

I have some TCU friends straight up PISSED this morning. Fisher was supposed to be "washed up" as well, so I take those things with a grain of salt. I guess it is true what I was told a few years ago - Schlossnagle has wanted the A&M job for years

Now he has it, let's see what he does with it

Any word on if Saarloos is taking over in FW or is he going with him?

That was supposed to happen, but according to Kendall TCU will be doing a full coaching search. If so, they might lose Saarloos to another opening. It will be interesting to watch

If they don’t promote Saarloos he will go to Rice I think. Or take an MLB pitching coach job in the fall perhaps

I guess as far as optics go, it makes sense to do a “full search” but the guy is already in the building. Big mistake by TCU if they lose him for that reason.

That said, I wonder if they could pull Heefner from DBU.

Saarrloos will be a HC somewhere next year, or in MLB. Heefner would be interesting - wouldn't have to move. However, he is honestly happy where he is according to some who know way more than I do.

Oh I agree 100%, I was just kidding about him going to LSU as the pitching coach with Ray Tanner.

Or am I?

Another home run hire on paper. Another name Aggies will be hating in a few years because he can’t win there. Nobody can.

Any TCU fan saying they are more excited to see what Saarloos can do than sad that Schlossnagle is leaving is just lying to themselves to cope with it. They can be excited about Saarloos for sure, guy has potential. Right now I see him as a poor man’s Skip Johnson, highly regarded pitching coach amongst all baseball circles, belief that he can be a good manager. Ain’t working out too good for OU right now though but doesn’t mean it won’t for Kirk.

Jim is TCU baseball and he built TCU into what it is today from the ashes before Saarloos arrived.

I don’t know if Jim will be successful just because the SEC West looks like an absolute meat grinder (RIP Auburn) and somebody has to be at the bottom, but this is the best hire they have made in a big 3 sport IMO

Sounds a lot like the FSU fanbase after we hired Jimbo.

Isn't funny how the backup QB is everyone's favorite player when the starter has a bad game. If only we could just put in the backup and we'd be great. Then, 95% of the time, he comes in and sucks worse.

Not so fast. Thompson is a really good coach. Auburn was in Omaha in 2019. He's made 3 regionals in a row before this season.
