Refs were scared of the Texas water bottle assault. That stunt is still paying dividends. Gotta hand it to Texas.

Forcible contact to the head/neck area of a defenseless player.

Thats the rule. Doesn’t matter if you use your head, face, or shoulder. You can’t hit a defenseless player forcibly in the head.

They changed the rule to just be forceable contact to the head and neck area. Crown is still there but not the only indication

Take out the targeting rule. They've made it as subjective as offensive holding.
