WSBT in South Bend is reporting that they have Te'o on camera discussing his girlfriend and his death by cancer 2 days after he knew it was a "hoax" according to the ND AD's timeline (after their in depth investigation). South Bend media must feel burned.

I seriously believe that in the end, this is going to be a story @ a guy who is gay, and had to make this shite up to hide his true sexual orientation from teammates etc.

There's got to be more to it than that. I understand making up the gf, but why kill her off in such an over the top manner, on the same day as his grandmother, even. If too many questions were being asked, simply "break up" with her. That would buy him even more time because he wouldn't want to get in a "rebound" relationship.

They "met" in 2009 and became friends for a couple of years, then started "dating", iirc.
