Help pay the tab for our new goalposts

Tennessee is apparently unable to afford new goalposts after last night's celebrations.

If your feeling fortunate, feel free to donate:

You'd be crowdfunding new goalposts too, if you were still paying buyouts for coaches after a decade of failed hires....

Imagine caring this much that someone posted about the same topic you did so yours would get more responses.

Tennessee is far from broke.

The greedy bastards saw an opportunity to milk the rubes for a few bucks.

That is the one negative thing I have to say about the Tennessee administration. Their greed knows no bounds.

It could be brilliant.

You have to give everybody that donates "something". Maybe a unique receipt, something printable even.

But its an awesome idea. Give the basic fan ... because the basic fan is what fills the stadium ... something in their price range to contribute. Now, match that to something actually tangible ... a certificate, something, anything ... and you've got something.

Kudos to Tennessee for thinking about this. Well done.

I wondered why Tennessee published that they had ordered new goalposts. It seemed they were actually encouraging the fan base to storm the field and tear them down. Even though the goalposts are $25,000. The fine for fans storming the field is $100,000. Not to mention the damage to the field.

These greedy sons of bitches planned this to try and make money. I hope it doesn't even cover the fine.

Poors

Thats the thing ... every big stadium in college football is mostly filled by "poors".

Get this ... most of the families of the temporary gladiators you either cheer or boo are from "poors".

This move by Tennessee "could" be brilliant. The old school, connected "Booster" model is all about paying big dollars, not for access, but to ensure that nobody else has access.

Lets see how it shakes out.

They prolly will raise a lot more than what the goal lost cost. The goal lost already paid for, this is just a fund raising tactic. What better time to ask for money than right after a big win?

A set of goalposts cost about 15k per set plus labor. This isn’t a fundraiser for goalposts. It’s just about grabbing as much coin as possible following a big win

Tennessee is not broke. They brought in over $91 million last year in football alone. The Tennessee endowment is $1.34 billion. I think they can more than afford a new set of goal posts. This is simply getting money raised while the win is still fresh.
