We have witnessed Tennessee’s ceiling under Heupel. He’s decent, but not an elite SEC coach. But from a UTk standpoint, 8-10 wins a year is nothing to turn your nose up at, given their performances over the past quarter of a century.

He has no touch on his throws, he cannot read a defense and panics if his first read isn’t open, he has happy feet and he’s a terrible runner.

He’s basically bad at everything other than throwing a fastball on a slant.

He has shown no sign of improvement throughout the year.

Last night solely falls on his coaches for not adjusting to what OSU was giving them.
I get that

But the timidness, holding onto the ball all day, decision making at the point of attack

I don't know if coaching corrects bravery

When needed* you’re right. But they’re not built around being a runner. Coaches aren’t trying to make an athlete into a consistent defense reading, managing, QB.

His decline began around the time that he started wearing a skirt.

I'm glad you posted this. Josh Heupel routinely reads the Rant for help in coaching his team, especially marginal talents like Nico. ESPN needs a pundit of your quality.

Does it seem like Heupel needs help though

So he won the heisman as a freshmen?

You made my point, first pass, then run, if needed. Hell, even Scam Newton was first Pass. I will ask, in what respect is Nico way better than Milroe? Take pure athleticism off the board because that’s not it. Game managing is equal I would say. Milford stats are comparable and against the Georgias he’s actually better. I’m in no fricking world saying Milroe is a good QB, but I’m trying to understand how Nico is better, by looking at facts and statistics.

We don’t run any misdirection or bootlegs to get people open in the flat.

He has horrible accuracy when his feet aren’t set so I think bootlegs would be a terrible idea.

Players don't make decisions in the Art Briles offense. Every play is predetermined. As many people have pointed out, if your front 7 can stop their run game without committing extra defenders it's game over, despite all the tempo and window dressing. Tennessee's OL got it's arse kicked last night. It's the same reason UGA beats them every year. Nico wasn't the reason they lost.

Yeah, we gonna have to decide to actually develop him instead of making him make our offense go, whether its working or not.

Nico is another version of Milroe in various ways. Josh Heupel will always go with these type QBs. He runs a gimmicky offense with gimmicky QBs. They are made for each other. But they'll never be elite.

I have been impressed with him from time to time, but last night that boy looked full on retarded. When pressure came he became a deer in headlights. You could tell he was in survival mode scrambling and had no situational awareness.

He’s a freshman and had no WRs/RBs/Offensive tackles against the best defense in the country. Calm down.

That is flat out BS!

I don't think Heupel is a great coach, but Bradford had a RS year under him followed by a RS frosh year, followed by a Heisman winning year.

His pro coach was an idiot who spent all his draft picks on defense and never got an OL to protect him. Fisher is the jerk-wad that ruined his pro career!

It's typical Rant overreaction

Tennessee has so much money invested in Nico I doubt they move on from him.

I don’t what game everyone with this stellar “hot take” saw but Nico was the only one worth a damn on offense last night.

Nico is another DJ Uiagalelei. He can make all the throws but his decision making and gameplay sucks arse.
