Fact is only one of the three I mentioned played for more than one season. That's where I would make my choice.
And I won't argue with that. I guess have no problem recognizing that you're basing your decision upon factor over which Manziel has no control.

I never bashed him. He hasn't done anything yet in year two.
He has the same number of TDs in 2013 season (bowl game excluded) as he did against LSU last year
He was great no arguing there. Just because I didn't pick him doesn't mean I don't think he is a great player. Quit being so butthurt when people don't agree with you. You sound like a hog fan
Good deal on the jar. I was worried.

I'm bringing my jar to Baton Rouge this year to smash it across some poor lizard-eater's head.

Why do we necessarily give Tebow all the credit for winning a title, and put all the blame on Manziel for not getting there his first year?
He doesn't get all the credit, but QBs are in large part judged by their leadership and what your team accomplished, and without a doubt Tebow played a major role in one and lead his team and won another. He orchestrated 2 4th quarter drives to win the 2008 SEC and National titles.
As of now, all JFF has done is put up some big numbers. Tebow put up big numbers AND won a few titles along the way. So my point being, if you want to win a title, you go with a proven winner.

Some kids piss their name in the snow. JFF can piss his name into concrete.

Now you know better.
11-2 playing in the SEC West and a top 5 finish surely constitute something. That mark is particularly impressive given TAMU's previous decade of futility and where the team was projected before the season.
No one's quite dense enough to only acknowledge achievements for which hardware is awarded.
At least not those who think critically.

Driskell also went 11-2 in his first year as the starter(including a win over JFF and A&M in College Station). It is a nice result, but doesn't mean that much in the grand scheme of things.

In JFF's first game ever. Nick Saban specifically noted that JFF was nowhere near the same player November 10th that he was September 4th.
Driskel isn't why the Gators won 11, whereas JFF was the primary ingredient for TAMU's success.
Yes, Driskel had the same record as JFF. But for reasons that are obvious (e.g. 2,000 less total yards and 31 fewer TDs) no one actually believes he's in JFF's league.
Driskel and and JFF are apples and oranges. They share one trait (record), and that's where the comparison ends.

Wasn't making a comparison. Just merely pointing out that while going 11-2 is nice, it is really not that big of a deal if you don't win a title.
And honestly, while the Saban quote may be nice, he wasn't there September 4th, so not quite sure his opinion means all that much.

It is when you're its proprietor as a freshman with a new coach in a new conference.
Is it for a school like Florida, Bama, or UF? No, not really--not without a title. But TAMU has yet to ascend to their heights.

1) Tebow, as a freshman, did nothing more than come in as a jump-pass quarterback while Chris Leak was the quarterback on that team. Chris Leak was the QB with the National Title, not Tebow.
Anyone who watched football in 2006 knows Tebow was significantly more than that. He had 13 TDs.
quote:
2) Manziel, as a freshman, (yes, he was a redshirt, but it was his first active year) won the HEISMAN TROPHY and had better stats than Cam Newton and Tebow in their Heisman trophy seasons (Tebow was a sophomore, newton a junior).
Tebow had more passing TDS, rushing TDs, had fewer interceptions, had a higher QB rating, etc. BTW, they were the same age when the won the Heisman.
quote:
3) Whoever brought up Jeff Driskell needs a psychiatric evaluation.
Again, Driskell was only brought up to point out that he also went 11-2. That record doesn't mean much if you don't win anything. When talking about Tebow and JFF, both have huge numbers, but the one HUGE difference is that Tebow has won SEC and national titles. That can't just be ignored because JFF's team went 11-2, they don't compare.

Tebow took the Gators to a National Title, played in another, took them to a BCS blowout win, and only lost 6 games as a starter.

I don't have any JFF 'fatigue', he's only been here one year, Tebow basically owned the SEC (and killed USC) for 3 straight years. As a Carolina fan, I'm not 'butthurt' about Manziel because we haven't faced him and I think Clowney and Co. would demolish him anyways. Tebow on the other hand, embarrassed us and yet I respected him more than any other non Gamecock player.
Just so lurkers understand, nobody here would actually take Tebow over Manziel. They're just butthurt and have JFF fatigue.
