Teams, players, and fans weigh their success heavily on beating Alabama.

It's true. We make or break a season for a team. Just look at the recent heisman winners.
Tebow was the favorite to win the hesiman again coming into the 09 SEC championship game but he gets stomped by Alabama, cries on national TV and Ingram wins instead.
Cam Newton locked the hesiman after coming back and beating us in the 2010 iron bowl. If Auburn loses that game, Cam doesn't win the heisman.
Johnny Football won the trophy in 2012 based on the game where he scorched us in Ttown. If he loses that game, he doesnt win the heisman.
Teams suffer from this too. Auburn failed to win the crystal ball and broke the SEC streak but since they came back miraculously and won, they now are still living off that win and think they are the best team in the SEC.
There's so many other instances of this but it would take me all day to type it up.

They weren't the best team last year and won't be this year. They lost to LSU and got lucky in the Georgia and Bama game. Auburn embarassed us against Florida State.

Also, due to Cam and his Dad being paid, voters were looking for any excuse not to vote for him. Had he lost the bama game, I would bet thousands of dollars that he doesn't win the trophy.
