The footnote to that five tells the tale. Whoever updated that can't tell the difference between recognition and a claim. The Georgia Football wiki lists two claimed titles, as does the media guide and Sanford Stadium.

You should only claim BCS, AP or UPI championships after 1942 if you were actually awarded that trophy. Prior to 1942 its a crap shoot but you should do it within reason.

If Alabama can claim pre-AP national championships in 1925 and 1926 then LSU should be able to claim the 1935 basketball national championship which was pre tournament era.

ah, ole miss. so...u went to vo-tech. study plumbing while u were there? get that 18 act 2.0 gpa needed for admission? good job buddy. i have few snobby ole miss buddies down here on the coast who think scratching 6 figures and driving a bmw means theyre rich.
all kidding aside, i went to lsu so its not like i went a powerhouse institution of higher learning either. btw, please beat bama this year, and dont get impatient with freeze if he doesnt win 10 games. gratz on beating us last year.
because bama wasnt the first choice in 1925 doesnt mean they didnt set a precedent for southern football by winning.
again, i dont like bama, but i have to give em props for the 4 rose bowls from 1925 - 1934. even though they tied in 1926. it wasnt just a one time thing, they proved it again over the next decade, thats what makes it significant.

Hmmmmm, it seems funny you would start with 1942. The AP started their weekly poll in 1936.

lsu is also the only school to win the ncaa tourny in basketball, baseball and have a wire service/bcs natty in football. also only school to have 10 or more sec titles in the big 3 sports.

I always thought this photo of A&M was funny. During the summer of joining the SEC they decided to tack on 2 more national and conference championships.
