I'm gonna go on the record and surprise people here (especially UT fans). This is what each SEC program should claim:

Alabama 12 (1925 26 61 64 65 73 78 79 92 2009 11 12)
Tennessee 4 (1938 50 51 98)
Florida 3 (1996 2006 08)
LSU 3 (1958 2003 07)
Auburn 2 (1957 2010
Georgia 2 (1942 80)
Arkansas 1 (1964)
Ole Miss 1 (1960)
Texas A&M 1 (1939)

No way Auburn looses to 1910 Harvard. Harvard wouldn't have scored on us. Only reason Auburn lost in Austin was the guys were out chasing skirts all night.

Pretty good. I see you've imposed some hard line criteria - no love for Ole Miss 1959 or Auburn 1983. I am in agreement, though I think these teams should be remembered, as well.

Ole Miss only got 3 selections in 1959. Miami and Nebraska both had more selections than Auburn in 1983.

Nice troll, but Alabama was named national champions by both polls in 1964.

Arkansas has zero national championships.

Fair enough. The really difficult part is the idea that those teams were probably the "best" teams of those years. Hence, my comment about remembering them.

But sometimes the best team doesn't win. I mean just look at 01/09.

Kidding.
