IDK, you have to consider who the audience is for these guys.
I think at Auburn you had this perception that Freeze was more focused on other things, thought he could just show up with his Waffle House menu and call a game and win. That part of the reason he was there was because of him being a good ol boy. So Golesh was kind of speaking to the fans as his audience saying that he is going to do things the right way, he isn't going to be distracted by fishing or golf, he isn't going to come in and act like the smartest guy in the room and think thats enough to get by like Harsin.
And then I know at Florida a big issue with the fans around here was two-fold: many of them convinced themselves Kiffin was the only good option (not true), and many convinced themselves a G5 guy was just Napier all over again. So Sumrall isn't saying this to puff his chest out, he is saying "I have the results, I'm not the same guy as Napier" and he reiterated that theme several times.
Will it backfire on him? Maybe. Odds are pretty good that it will. But I think both talked to their "audiences" pretty effectively, and with you being a UGA fan and me being a Tennessee fan neither of us were their "audience".

Sumrall will have Fla looking like a combo of KY, Troy and Tulane
Absolutely nothing dynamic about that
Absolutely nothing dynamic about that

I’m a huge Sumrall fan too
But he isn’t dynamic even though I wouldn’t have minded him at Auburn one bit
We got exactly what we needed in Golesh
We have been starved of a good passing game for way too long

I have no doubt Sumrall is a good coach. If he can get everyone on board he will do well.
I feel the same about Golesh.
I also think that in the age of the transfer portal and paying players, a lot of good coaches are going to get fired before they ever really get to establish a team's identity. I expect many more coaches to get fired before the end of the third season and the new contracts will shrink buyouts and increase incentives.

Florida just hired a carbon copy of Ron Zook.
Expect 7-5 or possibly 8-4 seasons.

I think they are both good hires.
The question is......what did each school need? I am not sure what UF needed. I know Auburn needed a HC that can put points on the board. I think we got that.

And Golesh also dealt Nick Saban defenses fits at both TN and S Fla
At Tennessee in 2022, yes. He put up 24 points and a little over 300 yards in 2021.
At USF in 2023 they put up 260 yards and scored 3 points.

In my experience the ones who talked the loudest bragging on themselves rarely delivered.

There's only so many different ways to make coach speak sound unique and original.

I like Golesh but I think Auburn fans are going to drive him nuts.
Aubies won’t like this but Golesh wanted the Arkansas job. His wife is from there and she goes back frequently for work.
He was waiting for the Hog offer but our brass decided on Silverfield. That’s why Aubie didn’t offer him their job until 1:30am Sunday.
We’ll find out who made the right call.

Great hire for both programs.
