Sure, because Chip Kelly looks at that LSU roster filled with spread players and thinks "I can go there and win immediately!"
Keep dreaming. Just as likely as Sumlin to USC.

TAMU to Southern Cal is not a lateral move ... and never will be.

Sumlin is already at a top 5 job. He's not going anywhere

USC is a top 5 job IMO. Texas A&M is somewhere in the top 10-15. You don't see people make that type of move often, but it definitely wouldn't be a lateral move. At the same time, I have a hard time seeing Sumlin leave a place that cares so much about football to a place where half of their seats were empty last game.
I just threw this out there because I know they went after Sumlin last go round, but this time I think USC is going to spend all the $$ to make sure they don't end up in a similar situation to where they were last time.

If anything, he'll use it to get a pay raise.......hell, he may not have to if aTm gets worried USC might come after him..........
It's not a lateral move........
I think they go after Gary Patterson..........besides him, all of the other "proven" coaches are in the SEC.....with the exceptions being Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh in the Big 10...............

Why would USC hire the worst coach in football history?
Posted on 10/12/15 at 4:18 pm to cardboardboxer
I don't think we would go for him imo. When Les goes we will hire someone who is very similar to Les by personality and how he recruits. A face of a program with the goods to win and a strong sense of family.

Not sure who they will get, but it is a very sweet situation to walk into at USC roster wise. They have a lot of talent with youth and it's a very easy place to recruit to. A coach can go there and win 10+ next season easily.

I think Sumlin is NFL bound, and while I think Morris will turn SMU around, there's no way A&M would hire him this early given he's still technically unproven

Yeah, with all the coaching changes they've had over the past few years, USC is going to get "their" guy this time and won't spare any expense in doing so.........
I believe the "target" is Gary Patterson.....but hey, stranger things have happened....!!!

THIS THREAD AGAIN?!?!
NO REALLY!!!

You'd think sumlin turning them down the first time would answer your question. But, you know, carry on.

Money talks and we can match anyone. If we're talking top all-time programs and storied histories or the more prestigious job, yes it's USC and it's not close. But as far as salaries, recruiting ground, facilities, alumni base and program momentum, it's a wash if not advantage A&M. Call me delusional or drinking the maroon kool-aid, but I don't see Sumlin leaving for another college job.

Bama to TAMU should never be a move made but a coach, but Fran did it.
Jobs aren't static in time. If so Minnesota would still be an awesome coaching job.
