Still don’t understand the “Brian Kelly is a bad fit” for LSU a year ago

Finebaum interview

Kelly is a top 3 if not the best SEC coach to interview currently. He’s a straight shooter and seems well liked by his peers.

Then on the recruiting trail he has 5 of the top 10 players in state committed before June and leads for the other 5.

Seems like everyone was just upset he shook up the system leaving a blue blood for a school he can win a championship at.

Is that a backhanded compliment?

Brian Kelly is a fantastic coach and anyone who says otherwise is crazy

This is his 20th season as head coach and FBS and look how much he has won. He has won..... two Citrus Bowls and a Pinstripe Bowl!

Nah. I don’t care what LSU is considered. They’ve won three national titles in my lifetime.

It was ridiculous and nearly everyone on this forum was saying it.

Probably cause he brought the whole “Catholics grinding on young men” vibe with him

Maybe folks put too much stock in beating Saban. That seems to be the big measuring stick.

Sumlin beat him

Freeze beat him

Malazahn beat him

Orgeron beat him

Fisher beat him

Heupal beat him

Am I leaving any other insignificant coaches out?

It isn't hard to figure out why people thought it was a curious hire. He had no ties to the South

I guess it shows it doesn’t matter if you surround yourself with coaches that know the region. Best hire hands down was Frank Wilson.

As opposed to the significant Southern ties Saban had when LSU hired him from Michigan State, right??

Nutt beat Bama when Shula was coaching but he did beat Saban when he was coach at LSU. I meant at Bama.

He reads at the 12th grade level, so that's a tough fit in most of LA.

Well…. One thing we know for sure. Sam Pittman can’t beat him. Btw, when is the last time Arkansas beat Alabama? It’s been so long, my memory simply can’t remember that far back.

Lol you goofballs think winning 9 games is a fit lol…. Winning has nothing to with a fit …. He’s not from the south …. He’s never coached in the south and when people say the south they don’t even include Louisiana because your state is so fricked up 3 different breeds of people. No one can even understand you coons.

Was last season a good season for LSU? Will he improve on it? Better hope you go without many injuries. Team seems paper thin.
