I don't think O'Connor takes the job but he gets a solid raise out of this. I asked the question because I'd think a Virginia fan would have more insight.
MSU kicked the tires with both BOC and Tim Corbin after the Cajun Cannizaro Cunnilingus disaster and neither of their agents gave John Cohen the time of day.

Kendall Rogers is reporting that BOC is the “clear-cut front runner”. Nothing official but for him to go on record and say that leads me to believe it’s a lot more likely he comes than not.

If State could somehow pull O’Conner…. Goodness that would be awesome. These last few years have been so discouraging after the natty.

I think the only way he doesn’t come is if UVA gives him what he wants at the last second before y’all announce. I don’t think y’all are announcing him before y’all’s season ends so it’s a weird situation where if I was a State fan, I would want to go 2 and Q and get this out there officially ASAP so UVA doesn’t have time to bring him back. Because I guarantee they are calling boosters to get funding he needs for the upgrades he wants. It’s barely leaking out now that he is gone and their fans are not happy at all.

Just a guess on my part, but if O'Connor is bringing assistants with him, he probably would prefer to wait to make the move until State is done, because as long as State is in the tournament, there's no opening for his assistants, and they might miss a paycheck.

Was coming to post this.
Rember Cohen talking about bringing in a coach who had multi-CWS experience?
Looks like Cohen was the problem.
BOC may not come to State, but this has been much better than every known coach immediately turning us down

He's about to have the rug pulled out from under him at UVA when the new scholarship rules go into effect. Clemson and some SEC schools will immediately go to 34 full rides (the rest of the SEC might do it in stages, but they will get there). UVA hasn't made any such commitment.

Cannizaro is why we won a National championship. Several key players from that N.C. team said they picked state over lsu because of Can. Not only was that hire not a disaster, it was CRITICAL for the natty.

You damn Rebs know more about State, or at least think you do, than you do about your own team. I work with a Rebel fan and that bastard knows more about State than he does Ole Miss. And y'all all say we're little brother. Right.

We didn't dodge any team, we got screwed.

Vandy got to rest it's top two starters for the Championship series while we had to play Texas and use up pitching.

We still went out and whipped Vandy's arse in the Championship series.

Not really a surprise. Starkville is known as the best small town in the southeast for a couple of years now.

Exactly. We had to burn Bednar against Texas and then it was a question mark if he could go until game 3 if it got there (it obviously did and he pitched the game of his life). Meanwhile Vandy had a fresh Rocker and Leiter. Massive disadvantage.
