And do it before flying to Omaha. The man has done a great job.

And it will further motivate the boys to bring home the grits!

Gary has done a great job and has made the decision, at least from a PR perspective, a much tougher one for State.

It's hard not to. The man made it to Omaha in his first year here. He couldn't do that in 7 years at Kentucky, but neither could Cohen.

While I agree with you, if I'm a State fan I'm not going to take advice on that sort of thing from an LSU fan.

Sorry, but, no. Cohen has known Henderson for many years, and he knows whether Hendo is the right man for the job. You should not base a hiring decision on the team getting hot for a couple of weeks.

Now, this will be inconsistent with I just posted, but if State were to win the CWS it would be awful hard to tell the first coach to win a team championship at State that his services are no longer needed.

They're gonna make a run at Butch Thompson first. If he's able to turn down the money and the nostalgia, then it's probably Henderson's turn.

No.

There's no moral obligation.

You don't make a multi-million dollar business decision based on some "moral obligation."

What's happened the past two weekends has been amazing as a State fan. It's very hard to get to Omaha.
But only four weekends ago, State was on the outside looking in in their season finale versus Florida. If they don't take 2 of 3 from them...they never make it to a Regional.

Also were a strike away from going 0-2 in Tallahassee. All Bulldog fans love what Coach Henderson has done here lately...but I know Cohen knows he's not the next guy to lead the program going forward.

I appreciate what Hendo has done, but a lot of our success recently has been pure talent, luck, and grit in spite of some of his decisions. If you know anything about baseball and about our team you'd recognize the flaws in his management.

I'm amazed we made it this far.

Gotta admit ... this has become one of the more interesting coaching hire stories, in terms of dynamics, in the SEC in years.

Not only that but, if Miss State does hire a different coach, what happens to the current coach? Does the new coach retain him? Does MSU cut him loose unceremoniously and he ends-up landing somewhere else - perhaps a program that will face MSU regularly?

I mean this is really interesting to watch on so many levels. It's just fascinating. Were I still writing this is a story l would pursue with vigor because he raises so many questions on so many levels. Loyalty, ethics, qualifications, resumes, AD prerogatives, fan prerogatives, player repercussions, etc., etc., etc.

One of our writers said this: if Henderson wins the CWS, give him the biggest bonus in college coaching history, put a plaque or something in the stadium and tell him thank you and farewell.

I tend to agree, but honestly, if we win the CWS, I don’t care who the coach is. Hire Mangum

Hopefully State does the right thing and gives him a make-right payment for working as head coach this year and then gives him every incentive Cannizaro would have made for this run.

Then weigh what he's done and how you think he could recruit going forward against all other candidates.

Gary Henderson deserves a head coaching job just not necessarily State's. And I say that as a huge fan of what he's accomplished.
