This type of reasoning is always silly. Coaches are professionals, not fans. If sentimental reasons are heavily factoring into their career decisions then you probably don't want him anyway.

Nick Saban went to college at Kent State, had his first HC job at Toledo, and was mentored by Belichick in Cleveland but if the Browns offered him their HC job he's going to tell them to frick off and then laugh about it. Suggestion he'd consider it just because he used to work there and used to live not far away just comes across as desperate reaching,

What did you want him to say, "Yeah if they call, I'm leaving. It's my dream job?" It's called coach-speak. That's all his comments were. I don't know if he'll come, but he has not said he wouldn't.

Well, Mississippi State is not the Cleveland Browns of college baseball.

Being from Amory doesn't mean he will take the job, but it does mean He is familiar with the area and likely would not find the job geographically undesirable.

That said, I have no opinion on Butch as a candidate. I'm sure he and Cohen have talked about the job, to find out if Butch is interested and to get his opinion on other candidates.

State fans need to quit doing this to y'alls selves mentally. Nobody's dream job is in Starkville.

Quote where I said it's his dream job. I asked do you expect him to say that?

Okay, fine. Point taken.

Doesn't really matter though because y'all won't get Butch.

The dude is from Amory and wouldn't tell MSU that without long and hard consideration in the worst case of circumstances. My take is he hasn't been offered the job and won't be offered the job until he's next on the list.

And he's spent half of his adult life in Alabama. I'm sure he has thought about it and if he was deciding between State and Auburn without having already being the coach at Auburn then yeah he likely would pick State.

As long as we don’t get a choke job like Bianca, we’ll be fine.

Autocorrect changed it to Bianca. It fits so I’ll allow it.

Post on SPS this morning. Take it FWIW.
quote:

Bo Bounds said on the radio this morning that he has not been in Omaha but is going tonight. He said there have been scouts and College baseball insiders that Shloss has been talking to. They have said the deal was done and Schloss really wanted the job but Cohen didn't want to offer while we were playing in a regional. But TCU president had a deadline on Schoss' decision and Schloss was mad we hadn't made the offer. So he leaked out he was pulling out of the candidacy and it pissed Cohen off. And now Schoss is in Omaha telling everyone at the bars this story and saying that he still wants the job

If I had to guess, I’d say Bo Bounds is the idiot

sounds like damage control. Is Bo Bounds the Derek Ponamsky of Miss State?

I feel we are going to get a surprise announcement very soon after the season ends and we are going to find out Gohen ha had his man for months.

It's hardly on the same level though because baseball only has a small cult following among fanbases. College football coaching searches are national news, especially in the SEC.

We'll see about that. I'm still holding out hope for someone else.

I wonder if Cohen actually did find his man weeks ago.

What if the new HC was contacted and offered weeks ago, and told that he would be announced as soon as this season ended? How would the conversations between he and Cohen be going , today?

This could be a very sticky situation for Cohen. Depending on how this season ends the AD could find himself as the unpopular guy, left out in the cold

I disagree, I think Henderson and Cohen have been very transparent with each other regarding this “problem.” I see it going down 2 different ways.

A: Henderson is retained, continues the built momentum with these players to next season. JG is coach in waiting.

Or

B: Outside coach is hired, Henderson publiclly states that he did not want the job, and earns a raise as PC or Assistant AD.

The only way this turns out bad is if we hire someone else and Henderson throws Cohen under the bus. Is Henderson an elite coach, no, but he has these kids playing for him right now and they will continue to do it for the next couple of years. That’s more important to me than his previous record at Kentucky.
