I think Henderson and Cohen have been very transparent with each other regarding this “problem.”

You're probably right. But there were reports, weeks ago, stating that players and recruits had been contacted and told that the new coach was in place. I haven't seen anything refuting or backtracking on those statements

Paul is confirming the Schloss rumors on 247. Meat is back on the table boys.

yeah, he's the guy coaching your team in Omaha

I highly doubt it but it is possible, Joe Alleva is not our AD though.

It is not required by anyone to promote position coaches that failed in their previous HC gig, that is just a LSU thing.

Steve said as much last night too. Paul and Steve must have different sources than Gene. Gene stated a few days ago that Schloss would absolutely not be the HC.

What did Paul and Steve say?

That Schloss had reached out to State through a 3rd party (agent?) and expressed interest in the job

This could be big. Might explain why Saarloos stayed at TCU.

I refuse to believe any of this.

I would imagine that is 100% spot on, would not be surprised one bit if the previous "announcement" was complete subterfuge by Schoss and an agreement was reached months ago.

If we make it to the championship series I don’t see a way you could not hire Hendu as full time. I’m not pulling for Hendu to be our coach but I am of course pulling for us to win the whole thing.

V weird situation

Constantly left out of all of this is the fact that Henderson said he does not want another head coaching gig.

Now, whether he was just saying that with a sour grapes attitude, who knows. He's certainly allowed to change his mind. But I haven't heard anything saying that he even wants the job. His preference may be for Cohen to get a big shot coach and he goes back to being the pitching coach next year.

Where did Henderson say he did not want another HC job? Everything I’ve seen has contradicted that

When he resigned from UK, he essentially said that the head coaching job at an SEC baseball school was too time-consuming and stressful, and he wanted to step away from it.

Now, again, obviously that opinion can change (and probably change easily when you're leading an SEC team to a World Series). But I haven't heard anything saying that he wants the job/has interviewed for the job/etc.

You’re right, it was the first time in the history of college sports an interim coach has been promoted to HC. Henderson didn’t fail at UK either but if it makes you feel better to say he did then by all means

And Corbin left Hoover saying that he was ready to "get away from this conference"

They're highly competitive guys who just came out of long, stressful seasons. Who knows what they really meant?

Just curious- what kind of job do you think Henderson did at Kentucky.

Compared to Kentucky's baseball history, pretty darn good job, imo

Worse than the guys before and after him though... Cohen elevated UK baseball to a new level, Hendo was objectively less successful.

He was handed the keys to the Kentucky team that Cohen had revamped and made 2 regionals in 8 years.
