Bama fans jealous because HBC is much more likable than Saban.

Steve Spurrier was indeed funny and one of a kind. He was very good for the conference. He never won in Starkville and after taking a beating one year his response about the game was something like "Well, someome misled our team and told them it was a touch football game. Apparently they told Msu something different." Lol

He coached and won at Michigan State and LSU. The only coach to win a national title at two SEC schools. That quote is stupid.

Damn ... well, I was at one game, on a Thursday night, that he won in Starkville - Smelly was at QB. I'm pretty sure we also won the one where Lattimore was hurt as well.

Correct. I think he meant to say he never won with Florida in Starkville.

Florida has 1 win in Starkville since 1986. (2009)

No I don't care if anyone likes Coach Saban as long as he wins like he does.

An old, good friend, at the time a major gator booster, used to say that Spurrier was at his best in the smaller, more intimate..press-free...booster club meetings. He said that Spurrier was almost viciously funny when speaking about Fla. State & UT. That was one of my only knocks against him, he used to mock Peyton, at the time a college kid, & I always felt he crossed the line in doing so. His last game was at LSU & had LSU not run out the clock from the 5 yrd line LSU could have rang up 50+ on him. I was screaming "time out, time out".

My favorite quote was before a USC-Tenn game when he said he had won more games at Neyland than some of UT's coaches.

And then they lost

frick Steve Spurrier. He is petty and vindictive. After Arkansas set a single game rushing record against his Gamecocks team, and Darren McFadden rushed for well over 300 yards against his team, he claimed that Arkansas was "running up the score" by handing the ball off to McFadden (never mind that that prick was notorious for running up the score on other teams while at Florida) and then he refused to even place McFadden on his Heisman ballot.

The dude is a major prick. Funny, yes, but an a-hole.

Several mediocre programs were spanking Bama arse by the time Spurrier left Florida.

He was a very impressive coach at Florida. He did some good work at South Carolina. When he quit midseason, he closed the book on whether he would be considered a truly great coach. You don't quit on a team midseason, at least the great ones don't.

It just shows what an ego the dude has.
A long time ago he made the claim that he would never be fired from a job. So when he saw that his team truly was shitty, he just quit. The guy is a prick of the highest order.
