negative ghost rider. Spurrier went 2-0 against Saban when Saban was at LSU and Spurrier at Florida. He went 1-1 against Saban when Saban was at Alabama and he at USC. Hugh Freeze does not have 3 career wins over Saban. The only coaches that do are Les Miles, Steve Spurrier, Lloyd Carr, and Joe Paterno.
No Chief, Hugh Freeze has the same amount of wins that current coaches do in the conference.
Currently one coach has beaten Saban. Gus, Twice.
So has Hugh.

Saban is a better coach than Spurrier, but this is a poor example as to why.
I know. That's the point.

Oh snap.

Spurrier only won 6 SEC championships.

Spurrier was on his way to being the best SEC coach of all time becore Saban came along, and it's clear he's insecure about it from his comments on Saban/Bama over the years. Only has one national title too, so he always plays up the SEC titles (a very nice accomplishment, but the all time greats are measured by natties, not conference titles).

6-1 is why Senile Old Spurrier needs to just STFU when it comes to lame trolling attempts of CNS, and keep chugging the Dos Equis.

Spurrier was all about the X’s and O’s. Hence why he had a difficult time defeating the FSUs and Miamis of the world - teams that had both the X’s and O’s and the Jimmy’s and Joe’s.
The man is a legend with just one national title to his credit.

Spurrier had a long way to go to be considered better than Bryant. Bryant won 13 SEC Championships and 6 National Championships. Spurrier had 6 SEC and 1 National.

Why he said "sort of"
one of em won but when they were ineligible

Saban is about to pass Spurrier in all time wins. And, would have already passed him if the ncaa hadn't taken his 5 wins from 07 away.
Saban
225-62-1
6 National championships
7 SEC championships
1 MAC title
11 SEC Western division titles
13-9 Bowls
5-2 CFP
Spurrier
228-89-2
1 National championship
6 SEC championships
1 ACC champion
8 SEC Eastern division titles
11-10 Bowl

Spurrier will always be a quitter in my book.

What does he think of Saban’s dominance of college football? Ol’ Spurdog howled and barked. “They didn’t win the SEC last year,” he shot back.

Spurrier hates the frick out of Saban getting any love from the media.

Saban proved he could win at a program like LSU.
Spurrier tried that with South Carolina but never succeeded, so I can see how he's a bit jealous.
Three succinct comments:
1) LSU has won 11 SEC titles with six different HCs. USCe has never won one.
2) UF had never won an SEC title before Spurrier. They would win 6 outright in his first eleven seasons including four in a row ('93-'96).
3) He took USCe to heights it hadn't known before. They were a conference force around '09-'12.

Stevie was too lazy to recruit and do all the other things necesary to build a consistently dominant program over a decade. Saban is obsessed with dominating and succeeding 24/7/365. Stevie worked kinda hard about 6 months and then went to the golf course. Told his assistants to take Sundays off.

Easy Francis, it was a simple tongue and check dig.
No need to quote stats at me, I will probably hurt your feelings.

Once an a-hole, always an a-hole.

He basically means that Saban runs the ship, the entire ship. Coordinators are not needed at the University of Alabama

There's a generation of fans who probably don't know their SEC history. Just pointing out some of it.

He is correct in that Bamas success has more to do with historic recruiting success than any other factor. Witness the failures of many of those coaches once they move onto less verdant pastures.
