Really, this isn't the case. I've known a few of these girls at different schools and everything about them is pretty much exaggerated, including their looks. They're basically like pages. They dress formally and escort the players and their families around campus during the day and then spend most of their time doing administrative work within the athletic department.

Your typical hostess is basically Reece Witherspoon's character from the movie Election - kind of cute in a polished way, but annoying to be around. I mean just look at their pictures on any SEC team's website.

On a sidenote, I did meet a hostess for Ole Miss and pressed her hard for some juicy gossip. She would have given it if she had any but the only amusing thing she could produce from her years of service was a tale about when she went to a recruit's room to transport him to a team dinner and he answered the door in a towel, said he was just about to hop in the shower and asked her if she would like to join him. Obviously, she turned around and left. She said another recruit was sent home for trying to play grab-arse with the hostesses.

The real truth is that there are official hostesses - people that walk around in blazers and suits sucking up to the athletic department because they think it will advance their career - and there are unofficial hostesses - skanks with no formal ties to the school but are known to put out for football players.
