Sports Media protects the Big 10

Let's go over the first sports week shall we? Illinois struggles with UAB, Oregon almost loses to the potatoes, Rutgers loses the UMASS 
Michigan pretty much loses to Western freaking Michigan, Indiana struggled with North texas....... Now.... imagine that happened to the SEC. The freaking world would be falling and talking heads would be singing songs of doom. Big 10 fumbles and you barley hear a peep. makes ya think

The sports media was dying for the SEC to come back to the pack along with having so many of them already being from Big 10 schools that nothing in this can surprise you.

Other than Oregon struggling with Boise St. I think the others are normal.
Rutgers (New Jersey St) has been terrible for most their existence and no clue why they were brought into the B1G. Their TV market can’t be that good. Who watches Rutgers?
Illinois has been terrible as well.
Michigan is the anomaly here. Not enough outrage in my opinion. Of course the networks will cover the call favorably because of contracts, but radio and internet have torn them up.
The top tier are performing. Penn St seems to have rebounded with the new coach and NIL.

I’m no B1G fan and the media does give them a pass, but let’s not get histrionic. I watched the Indiana game. They didn’t struggle. Bored, maybe? But no, they didn’t struggle. UAB scored on the last play of that game so the score looked a lot more respectable than the game was. Especially in the 2nd half.

The issue here is that the media wants us to forget that other than 3-4 teams(that dont all play each other), the league is terrible

I'm just going off actual big ten vs sec results, I dont care how the bottom feeders of the conference do in week 1. The only shocking result was oregon struggling so much, but boise st is better than almost anyone any other ranked teams played week 1.

Here’s what gets me … if an SEC team struggles with inferior opponents, it routinely becomes a national storyline about the conference being overrated or “down.”
When similar results happen across the Big Ten, the scrutiny is far less intense and focuses on the B1G being “top heavy,” like that’s some type of valid defense.
The inconsistency is in how loudly the media chooses to react to the results of the average games across both conferences.
