Florida played gap control with four man fronts in the 2nd half.

Started watching the LSU game, looks like they started with a 4 man front and switched to a three man and tried to disguise who was blitzing and who was covering out of the back 8. But I haven't finished the first half yet.
Tell me what you think of this 3rd and 13.

Contain and make him throw.
This.
He doesn't have as strong of an arm as Mett, but he has a better OL in terms of pass pro, and we'll be containing him, not pass rushing him. He's gonna have time to throw, so we need to keep Lester and HaHa back and force him to make good throws, and we should get some INTs.

Not much, won't play on my phone.

Our WRs are better than anything your team has ever seen.

Disguise the pressure using 4-man fronts and nickle/dime packages. Don't pressure him into running. Let him run out of options, look to run but have nowhere to go (contain). Don't get behind him on the edges, and USE MAN COVERAGE.
It's not hard. You just have to be patient and be in good shape or have some solid backups.

I don't think it is as simple as just containing and forcing him to throw.
Obviously that's the objective, but you also have to play good coverage and hurry his throws. I think that's why the 3 man front with a pressure blitz from different areas worked well.
They were basically doing what everyone is saying with the 4 man front, but not allowing him to pick an easy match up pre snap by disguising where the 4th man would come from.

it is called tackling a 5'9 180 white man correctly. Its incredible.

I am sure Milliner and company are shaking in their boots at the thought of playing A&M's WR corps.

First, you have to throw Florida out the window. JFF's first college game ever, team's first game in new system, and coaches already said half the playbook wasn't even available to run.
LSU was successful keeping Johnny in the pocket and taking away his first option. He gets claustrophobic and then wants to run.
Unfortunately, Kliff has corrected this and will now run it right down your throat with only 4-5 defenders in the box.
Best bet is to give the center pressure. Being in shotgun, when there is different looks by the def and the center feels pressure, the snaps get errant. Rhythm gets out of whack for JFF.
Better get TOs....or it will be a long night.

Mush rush
Spy him with a nickel or dime back, not a linebacker (we used Micah Eugene)
Tight coverage on his WRs (they have no game breakers with speed)
Don't fall too far behind from their inevitable fast start

Not that it means much in this year's SEC WR group, but it can be argued that A&M has two of the top 4 receivers in the conference. As a unit, it's as good as the 2010/2011 Arkansas group.
Bama may not be shaking, but nevertheless this will be your secondary's biggest test all year. Especially given our unmatched ability with "scramble rules" plays. Even LSU and UF found ona couple occasions that you can play perfect defense and still give up a 20 yard play to us.

Florida just put a spy on him in the second half. And Florida's secondary is good enough to just play man to man and shut down most passing games.

Not really accurate. Yes Florida used a spy, but every team we've played has tried that and it rarely works. What Florida did was have their athletic DEs stop rushing, play contain and force Manziel laterally. That was much more significant than using a spy.

That's cause every team you've played so far sans Florida and LSU sucks at defense and can't cover.

Yep. Three down lineman and brought the blitz from different angles. Something Bama does anyway and should have no problem shutting down JFF.
Just stop.
One team has stopped Johnny (Yeah, UF did, too, but it was his first game ever--not the same player. Hilarious how people hold the second half of his first collegiate game against him).
"No problem" is wishful rhetoric. He won't go off for 400+ because its Bama, but don't be a dumbass and represent he'll be a non-factor.

Disguising their blitz and coverages packages. I'm sure the coaches already know, but A&M really needs to come up with a gameplan for this and give the defense something different.
While it has been rare, when the opposing defense limits JFF, A&M's offense falls flat fast.

The same defense Alabama used with great success to shut down the running threat that Tim Tebow, Cam Newton, and Denard Robinson posed.
