37 rushes for a whopping 136 yds. 3.6 ypc.

Ben Malena, our starting running back, had 12 carries for 82 yards. That's 6.8 YPC. His last carry of the game went for nine yards, so it's hardly like LSU was stopping it.

This for the most part, but mix in a zone every now and then to confuse the frick out of him. THat's how we got our picks.

That's how you got one pick. Johnny was only responsible for one of the three thrown. One was perfectly thrown to a usually sure handed Evans, who tried to run before catching it, letting it bounce off his chest into the air. The other was due to our true FR WR running the wrong route stem. LSU did a good job of limiting him, but to act like he played a bad game is ignorant.

The bigger issue was our inability to adjust to the 3 man front, and we should have ran up the middle with Michael against that type of defense. It will be interesting to see how we attack the Bama D with their base D being a 3-4.

LSU did a great job with 3 man front and left a MLB spy or two with safeties deep. This was meant to give us enough rope to hang ourselves. We did. If Bama does this I expect us to break some big runs as blocking has improved greatly out of the two point. Sumlin has been installing the final pieces of the offense from what I see and most of it is run oriented. Saban will have to evaluate new tape and find a new way to stop us. Here is to a great, injury free game!
