Based on some possibly not true reports on here, some may have actually known. But I’m not on OP’s side, either. It’s a dumb comment to make. We have no idea when he decided to retire.

Again, that is for players that are already on the team. NLI blocks you from transferring your first year once you have attended classes in this case. The recruits that have not enrolled yet are free to get out of their NLI since he quit, but not the ones that started classes today.

Thought they changed the rules on this last year

Before you could not get out of the NLI period without school permission, even if the coach left.

The new rule allows it now or the coach leaves but not if the new enrollees have attended class already, thus it’s still locking in the players that started their first classes today.

For players previously on the team, they can enter the transfer portal for the next 30 days.

I'd take a pause from circulating unsubstantiated rumors.

All of defensive recruits knew new staff was coming….other wise they would not have committed. Pretty obvious if you watched lsu games. See how this works?

Correct

The only problem with this is that classes have already started.

Kirby has at least one open scholarship because the QB from UNLV decided to go to USC instead.

With both the DC and Saban gone, there is a very good chance that Alabama will lose some defensive players.

Just for a semester though, right?

There is a difference between players on NLI and players that were on the team the previous season.

They changed the rule. You can get out of your NLI even after completing a quarter/semester now.

I do agree the timing was purposeful. Dont think it’s a POS move though. NIL makes it a business. Welcome to the business world.

This says released from NLI without penalty even after going to class.

There’s probably some advantage to having them start though.

People here act like they know all the rules but none of us do. It’s been too fluid for too long for anyone to understand as much as the coaches do.

A few years ago Aggies had a new signee transfer after attending class. You can leave any time you want to.

For crying out loud, the one and only screwing was when Nick Saban told LSU is was leaving on CHRISTMAS DAY.

I mean, who is arrogant enough to pull a stunt like that? Nick Saban, that's who.

I hope it’s not as well. Same with Saban. They should have some healthy days in the sun.

Syllabus day is not a real class day at most institutions. In fact, the whole first week is kids adding and dropping classes. For anyone coming to LSU, they could enroll or drop anytime up until 1/24/24.
