Man I hope UT hires a coach who hasn't coached since 2008.

Meh. Muschamp put in some time at a comparable mid tier program and now he's finally coaching at a big time program.

If a coach ever wanted to coach big time college football...
He needs to put in a couple years at a mid tier school like UT first.

History does suggest that if an LSU coach wants to reach their full potential they need to go to Bama...
re: What are the East winner scenarios?

All of this will occur and look great for USC right up until the officials screw Vandy out of a win over the Vols. This will, of course, happen because of the REC and b/c Bama is scared of the Gamecocks.

Where are all of these neutral site games played? That's 32 of them per year.
Do OOC games have to be against fellow D1 opponents or can you play teams like Prairie View A&M, UTSA, or New Mexico State?

How many RB's are we taking in the 2018 class? I assume we'd happily make room for Elliot and White if the stars aligned.
Side note, I'm having trouble handling my emotions when it comes to positive recruiting news. It's been so long...

Wasn't around for the bet but that's a great signature by Bluefin. Just excellent.

Ray Tanner has made it clear that there won't be a "succession" plan if it involves a
coach-in-waiting. Don't know how else it could be done.
Then I guess we'll need to embrace the Decline.

When Bryant and Stallings retired, Alabama did not handle the transition well at all, and it may be that this is the price a program pays for having a great coach who got your team to unprecedented heights.
You may be right about this but it is very hard to watch it happen first hand.
Of course every true Gamecock fan is very thankful for Spurrier getting us to where we are. We would have lost way more than 6 games without him this year and I don't want him to retire. However, some sort of succession plan that we can point to needs to be in place. Simply telling a kid his position coach is under contract for 2 years is not enough. Saying you're only going to coach for 2-3 years and not addressing the inevitable vacuum that occurs afterwards is crazy.
This recruiting class evaporating and the cluster that next year's recruiting class will be is on Spurrier. The lack of a plan for post-Spurrier is on the AD.

Darrell Scott is also looking to transfer form tennessee. So many people in his life tried to tell him that going there was a bad idea, he should've kept the path and committed to SC. With SC having 2 RB's committed this cycle and Wilds, Carson and Williams likely to return next year, I don't see us taking Scott.
The Scott thing is interesting because we could conceivably lose Wilds, Carson, and Williams after next year. Since Scott would have to sit out next year anyway he could be of use in 2 years I guess.

It could be the HCIW thing. Could also be another guy completely. Or it could be BS. Regardless that thread on TBS is exploding right now. Sometimes I wish I was a member and this is one of those times.

I sincerely hope they aren't giving anyone an actual HCIW tag because of the recruiting restrictions. But I'm down with a "you'll have a great chance at being the HC after Spurrier...wink-wink" arrangement.

re: Greatest opening scene?

I've seen almost all of the movies mentioned in this thread but Saving Private Ryan is the only opening scene that I can replay perfectly in my mind if I closed my eyes right now. It was that memorable and thus the best.
