In hindsight, it was probably ill-advised to have Gus Malzahn come in and give the halftime speech.

It seems like you’d do 3 run plays and at least try to get a first down so that you could actually knee the ball and run out the clock

Exactly, that's what they should've done, and maybe tried a mid-range FG, which at the very least would've resulted in Thompson having to drive the length of the field (down two scores) with a backup QB and no timeouts.

I feel bad for their coach, who will probably take a lot of heat for this, but it really falls squarely on coaching in this case. I think having never been there before, the moment was too big and the staff just sort of panicked.

Obviously not a SEC officiating crew, no chance they wouldn't make sure Auburn won....

Finally, and ironically against Auburn HS, BDS turns on the voodoo.

It really is. Especially considering the last two high profile players there 1. Had an Auburn tattoo and was an Auburn commit and 2. Was an Auburn legacy. I also would get growing up in a college town and wanting to go elsewhere. Especially if you are an elite football player

...and Auburn high school has a really good kicker who has the leg to make a 40 yard field goal.

I saw that. Former UGA LB Jake Ganus is the LBs coach for Thompson.

Also, Auburn lost

Is that the U.A.B transfer?

Next game was as good this morning

Montgomery Catholic took a 16-0 lead in the first quarter and Fyffe rallied for 21 points and took the lead with a minute left. A Catholic player got behind the Fyffe DB's on the last play from the 33 yard line, ball was on the money and he dropped it. Game over.

Looks like two guys from the team both went for it and got in each other's way. Really sucks for them :(

Extra tidbit:

Thompson's game winning FG was kicked by a safety. They apparently don't have a kicker (or at least didn't for this game), so he played kicker. He's also the one who kicked the onside kick.
