This may also become a major point in a civil suit once Carter gets drafted.

I hate to go there in this type of tragedy, but this is something that will not only follow him from a criminal standpoint, but now teams have to be concerned about what this means regarding Carter having prolonged civil legal issues that may drag from several years.

This whole situation is extremely sad and now potentially will drop him a bit on draft boards.

It is for the girl driving the car, but it’ll be difficult to prosecute her. The AD isn’t responsible if she violates the terms of her usage. The victims could file civil suits but they e already declined to do that.

It is indeed sad. It was tragic from the get go and was unlikely to get any better but thus far it has been one bombshell after another. UGA has some SERIOUS work to do. I think they are more than capable and at this point I do not doubt they will but it they have a VERY tight leash as of now...

Forget crime. If he WAS at the scene of the crash, how about human decency to stay and check on your teammates???
Bingo! He’s a POS!

They have so far currently declined, without Carter being charged. With him now being charged it is no long UGA as the sole defendant in the potential lawsuit suit, but now Carter as well. With the upcoming draft and Carter potentially getting drafted in the top 5, the politics of the decision change quite a bit.

I guarantee that the families impacted are getting inundated with offers now for representation on all of this and hopefully UGA has already proactively reached out for some form of settlement once they knew about the police looking to charge Carter.

This whole thing could get uglier than it already is. Its all so sad and now is going to become a legal dram as well.

I've had to slam on my brakes enough times to avoid hitting deer driving 55-60 on those roads. Driving as fast as he allegedly was is just playing with fire at night.

True that. I almost hit one last night driving the same speed. I've had enough close calls at night just the last 2 years alone driving home after work. Luckily, I haven't hit any yet.

Is he a POS, or did he not want a DUI when the cops showed up?

He could just go with the “Wrong place wrong time” testimony. It seems to work for Bama players.

DUI or leave the scene knowing there’s a chance I can save a friend? Easy choice in my opinion but I’m not a POS though.

The lengths people will go to defend athletes of their favorite team is always ridiculous to me.

Such sad and moronic decisions leading to loss of life.

Stupidity is not relegated to one school.

We have witnessed a series of tragically bad decisions lately.

Lol at the Florida and Bama fans hoping this somehow gets UGA in trouble. Kirby has people so scared that they are celebrating our players dying and getting into trouble. How sad and pathetic, but completely expected.

I’m not sure how Carter gets sued when he wasn’t involved in the accident. He’s charged with 2 misdemeanors neither of which were causel. Hotrodding and fleeing the scene don’t create any linked liability. I suspect it is a creative attempt to ping him with a charge commiserate the DUI they’d have liked to have given him had he been on the scene.
