I’m an Auburn fan, every game makes me nervous. If the mid season Auburn returns, we could win it all. If we play lol Ike we have in March I can see us going out earlier.

The fact that he is going to see James Andres today in Birmingham is not a good sign at all. He’s out for a couple of weeks guaranteed.

He's not. Everyone has said that. Sorry to disappoint your Oats hating arse.

What are you talking about numnuts? Even Oats said he’s going to see one. I don’t hate Oats. I think I he’s done a great job taking a practically non existent basketball program since Mo Williams or Kennedy Winston played, but regardless of that, Nelson is a big player for us. Probably the only player we can’t lose to have a shot at a title.

Oats said in his presser and then told Goodman they are very confident he's good to go in 3-4 days. Sending him only as a precaution.

As a Hog fan I'm glad to see us in after the start to SEC play we had. That said, I have fairly low expectations this year. I have us getting by Kansas but don't feel great about it. Certainly don't feel great about St. Johns in Round 2.

I feel like year 2 with Cal will be our year to make a deep run depending on what pieces we get back and what we can do in the portal.

Alabama doesn't have any teams until the Elite 8 that are flashing red light terrible matchups (long defensive teams who can gum up our guards), which is a plus.

However, possible opponents starting the 2R forward that we could absolutely lose too if we don't play well (Saint Mary's, Wisconsin, BYU). So all in all a typical tournament. Looking forward to it.

Bama got a pretty good draw to the Elite 8 with the exception of BYU getting the 6 seed. They're athletic and have been on a run the past month (against everyone aside from Houston). Think they're #5 or #6 overall in Torvik over the past month. I thought they'd be higher than a 6 seed.

My current hopes/expectations for Alabama basketball are to consistently finish top 4 in the league and more often than not make the second weekend. We have a good shot at meeting those hopes this year, so I’m satisfied. Think the ingredients are there for another deep run, but who knows.

I think Florida will ultimately cut down the nets.

This is a year that’s widely believed to have almost historically good mid-seeded teams. So as a whole, 1-2 seeded SEC teams aren’t really thrilled with their potential second round matchups. (Not that you can really blame the committee for that, since that’s the way things turned out this year rather than something the committee did wrong.)

But you have to beat the best to be a championship team anyway. And at least the SEC dodged having to play Gonzaga in the second round.

the thing is, on paper, Auburn could very plausibly play like it did in two of those losses and still win the South. We've lost 1 game to a team that is arguably not a title contender, and that team unfortunately has our number and may await us in the S16 if we get there.

But unlike prior AU teams, I just don't think the evidence is there to support us flaming out to a nobody. It could happen, but it's just all bad juju rather than the more legitimate basis for thinking that in years' past.

Just happy to be here!

Though I still don’t understand how Horns as last team in get to play into an 11 seed. Seems like they’d have to play into a 16 seed (or even a 14-15).

Winning the title typically takes both skill and luck. How many teams won the title, while winning one game against a lower seed on a buzzer beater.

It's why it's March Madness. Anyone can win. No wins are guaranteed.

But I will say, Florida looks like the best team in the country by far right now, if they keep playing like they have, no one will beat them.

Flagg probably could have been back in the last two conference tournament games. But Duke (justifiably) kept him out because the NCAA tournament is about an order of magnitude more important that the ACC tournament is.

Only team that can beat Florida is Duke. Even at that, I think Florida is better than Duke overall. Duke can get up and down too. Florida reminds me of UCONN last year; they are the most complete team. If it wasn't for Duke, I would be just as confident with Florida winning the title as I was with UCONN last year (I called it the "UCONN Invitational". Auburn could lose in the second round, or win the entire thing. I'm not sure I trust them, though.
