Doesn't look as fast. He's trying so hard to be a pocket QB--maybe too hard.
There were several plays during which he should have taken off. I hope he starts to play within himself rather than conform to what others say he needs to be.

The real question is if he is too fat to handle the 100 degree heat?

Too bad he stepped out at the 2 and the 1.5 yard line...what a terrible official

The play was reviewed. The TD (on that particular run) was overturned. Malena subsequently took it in.
Replay did exactly what it was supposed to do.

I don't think he has lost a step. You have two things to look at...
First, SHSU was dirty and taking some cheap shots last year. No reason to risk getting a knee blown out if you don't have to.
Second, he wants to go to the NFL this year and a 6' white QB is not going to get drafted for his scrambling. He mentioned over the summer he was working on becoming a pocket passer and these first two games were great teams to work on it.

Carrying all that money in your pockets will do that

He looks better to me than last year. Looks extremely concentrated on the Bama game. Looks like he wants to bend Saban over again.
aTm morale doesn't seem to be affected over all the JFF drama.
Aggies beat Bama 38 - 28

Whatever it is, A&M doesn't appear to have cohesiveness, the discipline they had last year. Different year, different circumstances.

Of course he won't ever be able to have success against that vaunted $aban D...wait, never mind.

They haven't been drawing up run plays for him and he has intentionally been trying to stand in the pocket and work on his reads.
According to our OC, in two games we've run a grand total of about 20 plays out of different formations. We haven't shown much of anything.

I personally think he has lost about a half step.
It will mean the difference in some runs. But he will run his arse off. Go watch his reel. A half step of JFF is like a needle out of a haystack.
He runs well, throws well, and yes his instincts are the difference - its like a MLB batter. He has a sense I have never seen with a QB on the run. That is why Saban hired consultants (weak).
But you cant stop it. Basically when he runs, he turns the play into a Nebraska option, except its if the middle coverage is coming up or staying back. If they stay back for tiny millisecond too long he hits the flag. If they just flinch forward he throws over their heads.
He has in my opinion. But barely. He has picked up more in strength, smarts etc..
RGIII could prolly lose 10 and gain a .1 but is it optimum?

With all due respect, what your offense has shown is a line that got abused by an OK VT D.
Better get that fixed or it's gonna be a long Saturday.

Knew I'd get someone with that

I really don't understand what all these post about him trying to stay in the pocket and go through his reads has to do with whether or not he looks slower running the ball.
