This.
Kiffin installed the new system and was working with less.
So it's pretty hard to judge. I know as far as HC goes, I would rather Kiffin.

They controlled the game. They wore Bama down. Why do you think they were able to score three times in the fourth quarter. Lane Kiffin wouldn’t have mattered. Hurts couldn’t throw. Still can’t throw.
They wore our defense down because our offense kept going 3 and out...

Kiffin turned Ole Miss into a top 5 offense in a year. Kiffin scored twice as many points against Alabama with Matt Coral then Fields did. I think Sark will do really well at Texas, but Kiffin is a better coach.

Lane had Blake Sims, it’s not a fair argument

I think Sark is more analytical. Kiffin is very analytical too but he also can be an emotional play caller.

Lane, but I think they're probably the top two playcallers in college football.

My thoughts exactly. The QB's were the difference.

Sark. A lot less guessing at the goal line.

I think Kiffen, he had to change the culture and then had players recruited for a different scheme, and still got a championship with lesser players

I got to go with Sark. Perfect playing calling and he was head coach for a game.
Very thankful to Kiffin though for installing a dynamic offense.

Nyet. McElwain was OC from 2008-2011. Doug Nussmeier was OC 2012-2013.

And trust me, Doug Nussmeier had little to do with that 2012 title. Hell, he actively pursued fricking it up. There is a reason why he was gone after the 2013 season…the head man was tired of having to tell his OC what to do so they could win a ball game constantly.
I actually think McElwain deserves some credit for his work at Alabama. He’s been made disreputable due to his time at Florida - rightly so - but he completely overhauled the identity of the Alabama offense. The run game was much more varied and he used formations to his advantage. The passing game was always a bit bland but it got the job done more often than not. It had been a decade since Alabama had been able to physically impose their will on teams and he was the final piece in the puzzle that got Alabama back to that mode.
McElwain or someone like him wouldn’t be the right man for the job today but in 2008 he was just what the doctor ordered.

Lane.. and it’s not really close. What he had to do with a freshman Jalen was unreal

No argument on McElwain or Nuss. Just stating JMac didn’t call two BCS Championships in a row.
ETA: I liked JMac at BAMA. What he has done since has no bearing on his work with the Tide.

slight correction: Sarkisian had the 2 highest rated qbs ever in college football, but of course Sarkisian had some to do with that
Which to me is the interesting question about Sark would be if he can duplicate his success at Texas, without Saban recruiting.
as to OP's question I have to say a better overall OC is Kiffin, who is one hell of a playcaller, but Sark is the best playcaller I have ever seen at Bama. I'll give him that. Even better than Kiffin.

One thing I am confident in saying is that the game Sark called against Ohio State in the NCG was the best offensive game plan I’ve seen in the Saban era.
What he did to that defense was borderline sadistic.

Not having Lane didn’t lose that game. Y’all couldn’t get Clemson off the field.
