I see this take all the time but it already has. The Cats put up 31.6 ppg in 1997 and 35.9 ppg in 1998.

Mel Tucker seems like he is going to be able to do really good things at Colorado TBH. Dude kills in interviews and has a great no excuses attitude.

The main factor in Fulmer's decision: which one would be the easiest to stage a coup against?

The SEC & Clemson’s d-lines will destroy an air raid offensive line in 2019.

Phil hates Leach with a passion. I'm thinking maybe Leach did his wife or something.

He wanted a defensive coach and his guy had to be an elite recruiter. His plan looks like it failed.

Leach has had major issues with administrators, boosters, and A.D. officials at every place he's been over the years. In addition, he detests recruiting. All from several magazine articles over the years, Sports Illustrated for one. There are good reasons he's landed where he is now. Detest Finebaum but he's said, numerous times, that Leach bombs in every interview he's had. Was. St. hiring him was a mutual desperation hire.

I'm sure probably goes into interviews and tell the AD that everything the program is doing and the previous coach did was wrong. He probably sugar coats nothing and then starts on tangents about Area 51 or ancient Sumeria or some shite.

If you're going to hire him, as and AD, he's got to be your guy and you know what comes along with him.

Your recruiting rankings will not be great, but you will win 2-3 games every year you're not supposed to.

Leach is a major headcase.

Other than being a functioning retard, what makes people think Leach's system would do well in the SEC. Its not like he is killing it in the Pac12

There were a lot of reports that somebody from UT had Leach lined up but Fulmer nixed the deal.

The old AD had gone rogue (wasn't talking to anyone at UT and had been recalled) while he was trying to get Leach on board. He was then fired. That's pretty much all there was to it.

Fulmer should have pulled a Dick Cheney and hired himself.

Why in the hell do y’all act like Leak will be a success in the SEC? His offense worked at Texas Tech & Wazzu because they both play in a finesse conference.

Ha had moderate success at Kentucky running that offense. He might not be a NC coach but if you’re looking for a coach to take you from sucking to being somewhat relevant then I’m not sure there is a better realistic option.

That’s pretty much exactly how I envision a Leach interview going.

He may have been a good fit there tho. As bad as it appears to be, he would have stabilized the program, and Phil could have tried a few Co HC until they found a long term fit. That 8 month search was a shite show.

BS. In a sense d-line talent is irrelevant to an Air Raid offense. If the QB gets the ball out as quickly as he is supposed to, it is practically impossible to sack him. A collection of Five Star defensive linemen just doesn't matter.

That said, Leach's O.G. Air Raid (as opposed to guys like Lincoln Riley and the other Leach coaching tree guys), does seem to struggle against teams that have premier db talent, particularly if those guys are tall.

You have to be able to take away any possible pass for about four seconds, which is a lot harder to do than you think it is.

And even if you have that, one Michael Crabtree level WR (which Leach has yet to find in Pullman) can blow up even that.

Funny thing is you don't even need premier talent at QB to do it. You need a guy who can read the field fast, make the right decision, then make an accurate throw within the 20-30 yard range. And God knows Leach had a string of them at Texas Tech.

This tells me you don't know what an air raid offense is.

Matthew Scoggins, General Counsel for the Tennessee: “Sorry I’ve been in meeting and still am. We are going to take a couple of days and regroup on our search. It has nothing to do with Coach Leach. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.” Matt O’Hagan, Leach’s agent: “Thanks Matt, the people we worked with the past two days who are associated with the Vols search were professional and thorough. We negotiated earnestly and in good faith and feel we had reached and agreed to a deal. We hope that UT sees the tremendous value in having Mike Leach as their football coach. He is disciplined and innovate, attributes which has led to great success on the field and in the classroom.”

I've worked with Scoggins' father before and if his son is anything like him, he's probably smarter than anybody in UT's athletic department.
