It's not Lanning. And that's a good thing for the rest of us as far as I'm concerned. I don't think it had to do with money, or Bama's unwillingness to pay either.

Ryans always wanted to be an NFL HC. If he wasn’t one yet then he’d be working towards that goal. As much as I would love for him to coach at Alabama, that’s not his desire. NFL coaching is.

I have seen bama fans saying "what's the problem with $20M"? The thing is.......it will be $80M minimum. You will have to pay him $8M for 5 years. You will have to buy-out your staff and pay for his new staff. Are boosters going to pay that for a guy who has been a HC for two years?

You mean the guy who beat #14 LSU 31-0.

Yeah, that will work for us.

Norvell would crawl on glass to be bamas coach

Maybe but FSU is in a much easier conference and path to playoffs. Yes they got snubbed but won’t happen with the 12 team playoff. FSU is big enough to pay him whatever, not sure he would leave

Dameaco Ryans- said no way a successful NFL coach would leave for a CFB job. Also said Ryans was pre-Saban and there were some bad feelings among those players in regard to how Joe Kines was treated. Said there’s a bit of bad blood.

Nice!

I honestly wouldn't be upset with Norvell. I don't understand what the knock is on him.

Very impressed how he bolt the fsu program

Here's the problem with Norvell. He built that program through the portal. But the portal brings issues of its own. IE: 16 of the 22 starters for FSU came from the portal. When it came time to play the bowl game vs UGA there was no culture built to where you're playing the game for your teammates, the university, etc. Hence all the opt outs. And we all saw the results in the final score.

You can use the portal for improving on what you have. But, if that's going to be your "go to" for competing year after year rather than the recruiting trail, building relationships with recruits, etc it could come back to haunt you.

Would take a booster stepping up in a mighty big way but Bama doesn’t have that many boosters with that kind of money.

Sounds like BS to me. We heard the same stuff for Blake Baker and Bo Davis for LSU

Yeah, the school that shot the moon with the first Saban contract and has done nothing but print money for the following 17 years just can’t rustle up the funds….

McElroy is a moron.

The only one that I could see that could come in and literally take over right where NS left off is Kirby Smart. I’m not saying he’d leave UGA but I wouldn’t be surprised if Bama reaches out to him

Well FSU could have moved to the SEC a long time ago but said why would they want to go to such a strong conference. Hard to feel sorry for them when this was their choice.

All I know is that it's gonna take a pretty big payday for Norvell to completely destroy his career. Anybody following Saban is going to shite the bed so badly, they'll have to climb the ladder back up. If you can do it with tens of millions of dollars in your pocket, it makes it a little easier to swallow.

Did everyone forget Kiffin was basically 'fired' before the championship game because of his antics? He made some people mad for sure. And some of them aren't likely to forget.

Sure, some of that might change if they get desperate but the kind of people he pissed off are the kind of people that don't often change their minds about grudges.

That you think the Alabama job is a shitshow is a truly moronic take.
